We've had so few disciplinaries this season, it's almost as if they're compensating to demonstrate some form of even-handedness in the end of year figures. Good that the Floodlit 9s counts as a round.

Do you think naming them in the nines was a ploy in case of a ban & the RFL saw through it and gave them a 2 match ban?

Or even for managing to get some injured players back we get penalised like this!

The most interesting bit for me was the last paragraph which stated

As Tansey and Tickle were named in Hull FC’s squad for the Carnegie Floodlit 9 prior to the disciplinary hearing, they will be unavailable for Wednesday’s tournament in Leeds and the engage Super League Round 26 fixture at Wigan Warriors on Friday September 4.

At least it shows we may have anticipated this eventuality and tried to minimise the fallout. First time for everything.

No I think that the club probably knew the RFL disciplinary system would display blatant inconsistency. That and the fact that neither player is playing in the CC final or has a surname of Cunningham made us name them in the 9's squad to reduce the effect of the inevitable multi-game ban.
