| speaking as a Robin fan, I thought he played very well yesterday, always seemed to take 3 players to bring him down, gave some good offloads, and a fair few tackle busts.

After Hall lost his confidence in the last derby match he was dropped and hung out to dry, agar did nothing to help him get through it and it was only because Widnes come knocking he wentout on loan
as for Moa flew straight in and unfit and was thrown straight in against Huddersfield and Bradford then dropped, recalled against Leeds away and dropped after the knock on and brought back in at home against them as we was down to bare bones
Both nothing to do with good man management
Has no balls to drop any established senior players apart from thorman were he had little option

Indeed. I can't argue that Hall's performance yesterday suggests that his spell at Widnes has done him good but the way he has been treated by Agar this season is appalling. His attacking talent and flair is obvious for all to see and the shortcomings in his defensive game are the kind of things that can be improved by good coaching IMO. Someone joked about it earlier but if anything we should be thanking Cullen for restoring some of the lads confidence that was damaged by Agar.
As for Moa, if we don't keep him I sincerely hope we don't bother with any more 'projects' at least whilst Agar is in charge, after the Maiava debacle of a couple of years ago I was dubious about his signing but he's proved me wrong despite being thrown in and out of the side, if he maintains this level of performance until the end of the season and we don't retain him then Agar has essentially lied to the lad when he signed him.

I honestly think too much is been made of this loan spell at Widnes.
He was exciting before he went to Widnes and he'll be no different now.
I personally think there was two factors involved in his errors before he was dropped.
Firstly in attack he was light years ahead of his team mates. He was trying things that would have worked in teams like Leeds or Saints but because of our teams lack of attacking mentality failed to come off here.
Secondly the choice by Agar to play him in several different positions. To be fair to Agar it was probably a case of needs must but out of this we now realise that Hall is no Utility player and belongs at Centre.

Lying is a pretty strong accusation. I'd be interested to know two things :
1. What the club said to Sam when he was signed ?
2. How you know the answer to 1 ?

His confidence was long gone before that. Stop making excuses for him, he had a poor spell, he wasn't playing well at Centre before he was moved to FB anyway. His loan spell at Widnes meant that he was playing against weaker opposition away from the pressure of a big SL club (no offence to Widnes and the NL) and allowed him to regain some confidence in his own ability. Particularly his ability to take a hit and to actually put one in. His tackling is far better now then it has ever been IMO.

Agree totally. I have always been a big fan of his but he is a young player with deficiencies in his game that he now seems to be improving. He is a top quality attacking threat and should be a serious contender for a left centre starting berth now and into the future. his challenge is to reach a consistent level and not follow a good performance with 2 or 3 bad ones.

| I know this is a thread about big sam but regarding Hall; If you recall when Kirk Yeaman came into the 1st team his defence wasn't all that good, in fact many criticised him for this (i know who'd of though hey!?!?)...i can see similarities with Hall. If he is coached well in his tackling and defensive techniques we will have a very good centre playing for us. He has natural attacking ability which he cannot teach.
It will be interesting to see what effects Agar and Sharp's coaching has on him...potentially he is head and shoulders above what we have playing at centre currently.
Re big Sam....the club should be pulling out all the stops to retain this guy.....along with Calders he is a real crowd pleaser!
