I don't think that the general mood of gloom here is justified. Wire have only played well in patches so far this season and most of our fans don't really expect a radical improvement until 2010. In reality the game could go either way and neither set of fans should be too surprised. At this stage no-one knows if Briers will play, either, and, apart from in the Cup ( and then only against Fev ) Wire haven't clicked at all with other half-back combinations.

Except that the odds are in favour of disappointment.
