At present it seems that our youngsters get a certain level then stall.
The likes of Crooks, Miller, Green and even Lineham have gone backwards this year (yes the latter two have had injuries but given lattitude more so than the former two)
I beleive the coaches and system we have just isn't adequate, we have a coach who seems unable to man manage players or bring them on/develop them..especially Miller and Crooks.

Lineham and Green had long injuries...how about Bowden,vastly improved and the likes of Lancaster,Logan,Hadley and Abdul all coming in and doing well......Westerman is still young and has got better under Radford.

Lancaster, Abdul and Logan all made their debuts last season and all have shown great promise. I suspect we won't know the answer to your question until we see how they develop next season.

Westerman is a young player who has just made the England squad thanks to the current coach giving him his most suited role.

I posted they have gone so nothing to discuss on them, seems on here some folk don't like others having a sense of humour or an opinion.

It would seem we have the coaching ability to bring on our young academy lads, as they are breaking through & coping well to the speed/standard of SL. Abdul,Logan,Lancaster, have all taken their chances very well, with the right attitude & desire, still keeping their feet firmly on the ground, & knowing that it's going to take a lot more hard work to maintain the level.

FFS will people stop going on about Miller like hes some scapegoat or something? He was wrongly signed by Gentle and asked to do a role way beyond his ability. Weve been bad for a few years but when Miller was on the field we looked even worse than normal. He didn't have a clue and that rubbed off on the rest of the team who also looked clueless when he was playing.

Crooks is the only one who has really gone backwards. Whether that's to do with the coaching or his attitude I dont know, possibly a mix of the two. Hopefully we'll see him back at FC and even better player in the future.

I don't think Miller was the answer to our halfback problems.

Lineham and Green both came back from injuries last year, and both had some solid performanes at the end of the year. The derby for Green springs to mind, he really impressed me that game. Next season should give us a better idea.

If youre going to open a thread discussing youngsters, it's best to cover both sides of the argument, not just the negatives, or it may look a little biased.

Hadley, Bowden & Westerman have all improved without doubt, Westerman having earnt an England call up.

Shaul, I wouldn't say I was blown away by this season, but he certainly hasn't suffered from 'second season syndrome'. Notched up 16 tries I think it was. Hopefully we'll see him flourish off the back of Sneyd and Pryce. certainly got areas of his game he needs to work on.

I'd say on the whole the coaching team do have the ability to bring youngsters through looking at that. Some work out, some don't, just how it is.

A bit harsh but I agree with the sentiment. He was given amounts of remuneration and responsibility disproportionate to his ability and experience by Peter Gentle. Did he take a quarter of the games he played in by the scruff of the neck? Demonstrate a potentially dominant kicking game? Take the line on consistently? Er, no. HTW at 17 shouted the odds more effectively in his cameo of a debut. Sneyd is just a year older and although not wholly consistent has more in his toolkit IMO. The right call to release and a trade-up.

Don't think any youngsters have really been brought through this season! Not to the degree some people talk about on here, not to the level , crooks , lineham and Shaul where last season, a couple of games here and they , not been massively impressive and playing for a team that finished 11! Think people need to calm down, and see what happens next season
