I also made the point to the mrs earlier, that when Sts, Leeds etc were bringing their youngsters in, they were brought into a winning team, whereas we aren't yet, so it's more difficult for them to impress. Having said that, I'm happy with how all of them are doing so far

Is Lyne a fullback now seeing as that's were he said he would like to play, and PG has said he doesn't want to move players around. So who would be our third choice winger now?

For me Lyne won't make it in SL.

Only played for 10-15 minutes and it was out of position at centre/wing wasn't it?

Probably in one of his "I'll only use 10 of the 12 changes and use 3 of the 4 available players for that" games.

Cunningham played in the Catalans away game under Agar.
Nicklas saw a 20 minute cameo at wing/centre under Agar.
Lyne got a few games on the wing.
I don't count players like Kent and Aldous who only got games in the early stages of the cup or in preseason.


For Gentle:
Bowden - several SL games
Green - couple SL games
Kent - SL/Cup games
Crooks - SL game
Ellis doesn't really count as he isn't an academy player and played all last season in the championship.


The main differences for me between the two are:

1) Agar would move the team around to always have his senior players in, regardless of them being out of position. Gentle does a like-for-like replacement.
2) Agar tended to give players 20 minutes off the bench. Gentle has offered them starts or 30-40 minutes.
3) Gentle's let them play in their actual position, not just shoved them on the wing/centre.

Gentle has done more for the future of the club in 5 months than Shergar did in 5 years. He has shown the youngsters that a 1st team place can be attained. You can see these young kids gaining in confidence and actually believing in themselves. Bowden is now an important part of the senior squad and doesn't look out of place. Kent hopefully will follow.
