Looks nasty but I've gotta say, he's committed to the tackle. I don't know how players are supposed to pull out in this situation.

I disagree. It's not like he was off his feet with momentum. He consciously hit him after the ball had gone.
Look at it the other way round. If Hurrell had the ball, would he have had time to side step him? I think he would
No good to us now though. Dagger out and Hurrell ban won't affect us at all.

Which is why a video ref is needed at all games.

Doesn’t even look like a proper tackle to me, irrespective of lateness

Agree. Hurrell drops the shoulder into Dagger - no wrapping of the arms. This might not have saved Daggers collarbone, but would be more akin to a regulation tackle. And on that basis should be considered a shoulder charge?

I’ve seen a few of them go for at least a yellow this season. Looks like a shoulder too. I’d expect a few games for that. Shame it was missed at the game and a shame it’s likely ended Daggers season.

| Thought Griffiths had the making of a decent ref ( probably still has ) but he missed so much yesterday, and to say Smith was one of his touch judges, that shouldn't be the case.
Missing the Hurrell late hit and the offside try are very big errors indeed, "bad day at the office"

The obstruction where the saints player ran through the line and play was allowed to continue with the ball carrier making 5-10 metres was a strange call. That’s usually a penalty with so much advantage gained. They scored a try that very end of set too I think.

The following players have received a caution
and this is from the RFL discipline minutes:
'Dangerous Contact – A defending player makes contact with an opponent after the ball has
been released by an opponent in a vulnerable position which causes flexion to the head,
neck or spinal column on an attacking player, which poses an unacceptable risk of injury to
that player.'
One match ban for that!
