| Sorry guys - I am struggling to see how there can be any positive to DB leaving Trinity.
Sam Obst isn't DB and doesn't have the same quality or qualities... Obst was great on Friday but hasn't been as consistent this year as he would have liked/should have been... in fact he's had some pretty average performances this season (saints in particular).. some on here are very quick to forget this and he is now the best thing since sliced brown bread....
If we genuinely want to break in to the next bracket and challenge the bigger clubs we need players like DB at our club - THE BOY IS TOP CLASS. Albeit if the lads circumstances mean he has to leave ... so be it. Its a shame he is in a situation like he is (should it be true).

| Isn't kirmond out with a bad knee injury?
Agree with Crigg Cat though obst apart from friday has been dissapointing this season, however it seems all has been forgiven by most after putting in 1 decent performance, brough's out of the top drawer, and we need him to push onto the next level, talking of Finch, did anyone really notice him vs leeds. ?

Come on, you know the rules, anyone who leaves under a cloud is immediately the worst player of all time (Sculthorpe, Griffin...), whereas those who leave at the end of a contract or similar (Grix....) then it's the club's fault for not keeping these World Class future legends on our books!

think theres a difference here mate, these rumours are not being denied by those in the know on here, and I dont see how it helps us this season, sure we knew DB would go but when his contract was up, Hes not just any player hes one of the top 3 in the most pivitol position in SL, nothing we have or will get this year will replace him, so for me we have lowered our aspirations after 6 games and placed one our rivals in a stronger position. we have nothing or will get nothing that is as good or better, a least in the short term.
As an accountant I can see the business sense in any deal, but as a fan I cant see anything we gain that will make me look forward to next weekend.

i remember gaz ellis saying he was gonna let those people sort out his future whilst he concentrated on the GB squad . Once bradford/Leeds started to fight it out it was inevitable he was off . Never bagged our club when left and like many wakey fans would love to see gaz finish back at wakefield.
Sculthorpe ran off to daddy crying , got a kind of feeling that brough will slag us off he slaged us off to york laughed about york to hull slagged hull off to cas told cas he hated us and wanted to play for them whilst telling us he hated cas .....ect ect ....
Contracts may be demanded but respect is a commodity that can not be demanded but acquired as a mutual consent

| If DB has gone good luck to him, except when he plays against us. I don't think there is any panic about him leaving. Better players than him have left the club in the past 6 or 7 years and the club has continued on an upward curve. If we get a fee and or players for him it will represent excellent business. Don't forget when he signed for us he was unproven at Super League level - if we move him on for a fee or player exchange then we are in profit. If we wait till the end of the season he goes for nothing.
Another point. This time last year I think we were also 4 from 6 - but unless Im mistaken DB had not played a single one of those 6 games.
As for Obst I think he has performed really well over the past season or so on the few occasions he has started at 6. I think the guy suffers a little because of his versatility between 6, 7 and 9. As a 6 he has done a good job I think.

| Quote: Baron Greenback "Strange if true. Despite the popular opinion on this thread, Ken Davy doesn't throw his money about willy-nilly. And I thought it was Huddersfield policy not to pay transfer fees. Do you think it's possible Wakey are letting him go early to maintain harmony within the squad? There was an interview with Robinson in the press last season where he said that Nathan Brown saw him as a hooker. Perhaps it's DB to 7 and Robinson to interchange with Lunt at 9 in 2011 when Drew goes back to Aus. I have my reservations about Brough but can't deny he's a class player on his day. I guess we'll see if it happens soon enough.'"
Come off it. I don't care what he does with his cash but to suggest a relatively poorly supported and funded club like Huds can afford the players they do without being massively subsidised is utter poppycock!
As I say it's a free country and Mr Davey can spend his money as he sees fit, Idon't resent that but at least be honest and don't insult our collective intelligences by pretending he doesn't splash the cash in a big way - he does!

22151_1298059614.jpg LOOKING FOR ACCOMMODATION IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA

| I've read these pages and hoped that this story was a load of cobblers but I know some of the posters and know their connections to the Club and therefore I have resigned myself to the fact that Danny Brough has played his last game in a Wakefield shirt.
I'm very disappointed that he is leaving but I know that the Board made him a very good offer, indeed the best anyone has ever been offered at Wakefield. Unfortunately it would appear that Danny's financial predicament has resulted in that offer not being accepable as he has a better offer from Huddersfield which he looks like accepting. I don't think we as a Club could have done anymore and I hope fans will not blame the Club and start posting negative posts about the Club, lack of ambition, suits, Marks & Spencer etc. etc.
I don't hold any grudges against Danny at all. He has a wife and young family to think about and if this move helps to alleviate his financial plight in some way can anyone blame him, I think we would all do the same if we were unfortunate to be in his financial predicament.
What I find hard to understand is how Huddersfield can afford to sign him and keep within the Cap but I'm sure they will have thought that one through. What I also find hard to understand is why do they want him. They are a good side and as good a player as Danny is I don't think they need him now. All I can think is that they are looking to next year and fear that as he comes out of contract they may face competition from the likes of Wigan and Saints and don't want to get into an auction.
I just hope that if players are coming our way we do not get any "make weights" but as I have said on many occasions before "In Kear We Trust" and I'm certain we wont do too badly out of any deal.
I wish him all the very best (except of course when he is playing against us) and thank him for his time at Wakefield. I just hope that the matter is concluded early next week and we can move on and concentrate on the upcoming game with Salford.

As usual you are logical in what you say, but i think it does set our season back a fair way, For DB the difference could well be a percentage of any transfer fee/and or signing on fee as a lump sum, which if out of contract he may well not have got? / got too late?
who knows? maybe only DB and shudds
Just narks me to find I have to accept another club is above us in the pecking order, no blame to WTRLFC Ill admit , but it still isnt easy to swallow.
