Correct, or can just lie down and die, but we aint going to do that. We owe it to the 15,000 people who signed the petition, those who gave evidence at the Public Inquiry in support and heard the Council and the Developer make promises to HM Planning Inspector to deliver a Community Stadium in return for planning consent.
As I said earlier, lets hope a deal can be agreed and we all can end this happily.

Still can't understand why we haven't seen Sir Rodney (I Delivered the new Wembley Stadium ) Walker on the box (excuse the pun) regarding this matter. Both Calendar and Look North would be the ideal stage for RW to shame YC and WMDC over this. He's spoken on both these programmes previously about far less controversial matters, and it would put the problem into the far wider public domain. But there again they're all part of the Establishment aren't they?

| Just to clear up where Newmarket actually is. Prior to 1974 it was in Rothwell Urban District Council area, the boundary with Stanley UDC being on the A642 just Leeds side of Moorhouse Estate Stanley. Rothwell UDC had the choice of whether to join Leeds or Wakefield Council areas in 1974 and chose Wakefield (a large part of Rothwell UDC (Lofthouse, RobinHood etc ) had Wakefield addresses and postcodes (and still has) and it was felt by the council that they would have more say in Wakefield rather than the bigger Leeds area. However some Lady Whatsittwerp decided that Rothwell should be in Leeds and that is where it went. So Newmarket became part of Leeds by default. Sometime later (2000?) the boundaries were redrawn and everything Wakefield side of the M62 (apart from Lofthouse which would have been split in two) was moved into Wakefield and by default that included Newmarket. Just so everybody is clear. I would say the site of the proposed ground is as big a distance inside Wakefield MDC as Dewsbury's ground is outside it. Not sure where people say the Wakefield City boundary is. It used to be near Pinderfields Hospital prior to 1974 and a sign still welcomes you to Wakefield there.

It was the Local Authority Boundary Commision for England Review of West Yorkshire of 1987 (Report No 600)
when the review board recommended that, for convenience, the M62 should form the boundary between Leeds and Wakefield in that locality. The recommendation was implemented shortly after.

| So.... what I read is that Trinity will move to Dewsbury to share a facility owned by a part time team.... meanwhile another club named Sheffield Eagles will be the only (albeit semi) professional sports team left playing in the city of Wakefield.... leasing the ground from ????...
I'm actually lost as to what I think about all this! I totally understand why this is happening but that does not take away the sense of shock and loss that this could happen.
I used to live within a stones throw of the ground and loved watching the A team and colts fixtures on a walk up basis... if I'm honest if I still lived in the area I would probably follow Trinity to Dewsbury.. but The Eagles would get my walk up custom... and if the situation persisted over a number of years I would probably end up only watching the team that played locally.

| Must say I am utterly confused .Just read YEP article where MC talks positively about move to Dewsbury . I also distinctly remember him saying upgrading Dewsbury to Superleague standard was feasible.
On the other hand we have Sandal Cat saying no way we will be allowed to be in Superleague if we relocate permanently to Dewsbury.
Come on . Who is correct?

If Wakefield move it will be after the 2017 season, Sheffield will only be playing at Belle Vue for the 2017 season as they're moving back to Sheffield for 2018.

Michael told me this morning that we would not be allowed to remain in Super League if the move ended up being permanent and we would become a Championship Club. The RFL would allow us to play there if it was temporary and there was a way back into Wakefield and Dewsbury was upgraded to meet SL minimum standards.
Hope that clears things up.
Our future as a SL side is dependant on a new/upgraded stadium in Wakefield. That is why we must continue to fight for what was promised to the people of Wakefield.

| Why pay money to upgrade Dewsbury to SL standard wouldn't that money be better spent on Belle Vue.

| Sad as it seems, I just have a feeling that in a few years time Wakefield Metropolitan District will not have a Super League Rugby club regardless of ground / stadium plans for Trinity and Cas.Tigers. Two teams who are in their infancy and if they are successful will probably make it to Super League at our expense. One is based in Canada and the other is in France (not the Dragons) I just think that is the way Super League and Sky are wanting the game to go, maybe 4 or 5 top clubs from the Rugby League M62 corridor,1 from another major city in the UK,.2 from France, 1 from Canada and maybe one from the USA.

People have been saying that since the start of Super League. It has never even been close to happening.

10363_1334937642.jpg SUPPORT SWAG...:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10363.jpg |

| A lot of people are asking how it's come to this and the usual suspects are being wheeled and of course they are all partly to blame. Walker, Ted, Glover, Box and Yorkcourt to name but a few.
However there was one event and one organisation that are rarely mentioned and both are IMHO more culpable than any of the above. Both are about timing which is the one issue we couldn't control and it's the one that always gets us.
First was the credit crunch and banking collapse 0f 2008. Up until that point Thornes was a goer, yes there were issues and I reckon the final stadium would have been much more basic than a very enthusiast Mr Box was suggesting, and yes he was really up for it at the time even if they didn't own some of the land they thought they did. Truth is had we started SWAG two years earlier and had moved the process two years on I'm reasonably confident that the development would have gone to far to stop. This is pretty much what happened with the Hemsworth and Trinity walk. The moment the credit crisis hit Thornes was doomed because at that point only words had been committed,
Secondly is the RFL who's running of the game since 1995 has been criminal. People say Ted ignored the ground and he did. However our only concern was to stay in SL because catch 22 we didn't have a ground that would allow us to return. Through the years a weak and pathetic RFL have changed the P&R criteria on an almost yearly basis. How the hell can you build a business from the starting point we had. When we hocked the ground it was during a period where it was a franchise and so long as you matched it you stayed in, hence we borrowed money to achieve that. Then don't you know a few years later they ditch that and replace it with 1 up 1 down then the MPG FFS! There is a reason the NRL works, STABILITY a word beyond the comprehension of Redhall!!!!
I know the same applies to other clubs and some have coped better however when you think that Workington, PSG, London, Oldham and now Bradford who were all in the inaugral SL season are either gone or nearly gone then it's fair to say not many have coped. When you look at the past 15 years and who's gone it's a miracle we are still here and still fighting.

| What is really annoying about this is that this morning, Michael Carter has tweeted the news of 2 clubs who have been granted permission regarding Stadia, with Sheffield and Leeds.
Don't want to turn this thread, into a political debate, but who keeps voting these clowns in, such as Box etc.
