| I like O'Meley - old school bully who'll punch holes in defences and line up opposition players for some rough treatment. We'd have to get (and keep) him fit though.
Mason just needs to be coached to play within his capabilities - forget the 'enforcer' nonsense and just run it in straight and hard - the kind of forward who can keep the opposition honest.
Kirke is a unit, but I haven't seen enough to know how I'd feel if he did come to us.
The outstanding performances of Amor and Raleigh have spoiled us and put us in a position to be sniffy about players like Mason and Kirke, who would have walked into most of our teams of recent years.

10084.jpg If you can't beat them don't join them
Just post rumours on forums:10084.jpg |
|
| My main concern with such replacements would be their age (they are all decent good players - I've never been a big fan of O meley, but someone who has played SOO and for Aus can't be bad, Mason looked very good a year or two ago last I paid attention to him, and I can't really comment on Kirke). None of them are quite at the end of their careers, but they are all towards it. The three named as potentially leaving are all younger, and have more potential to improve.
Perhaps more importantly, our current forwards been putting in some long stints, and I'm not sure a pack that is all 30+ would be able to maintain that workrate over a season. Then again, the strange success our coaching and conditioning team have had in attempting to turn Lauititi into an 80 minute man show wonders can be achieved.

| Does Amor have the call Leeds or Wakey? if so my gut feeling is he will commit to Wakey and 1st team rugby by the sound of it if he picks Leeds they will sell him to another club anyway Wakefield are on the up Aiton would not have signed if not and for my money Amor will stay
As for Mason save a whole lot of money and gamble on Alex Walmsley problem is he could be Cas bound
Big Frankie would be a big miss come on get him signed up
Tony,Morton,Hyde,Davey,James will all be heading for the exit door maybe Southern and John and Wildie

| Quote: bren2k "The Amor to Hull rumour is gathering pace - my understanding is that they've offered Leeds a fee so Leeds will recall him, then sell him; some of them also seem to think they're in for Johnson. If that proves true, we'll need a couple of quality forwards.
There's also talk of Mariano going back to HKR, potentially another big miss that we'll need to replace.
I'd also agree that Tony and Morton's time is probably up.'"
Heard the exact same rumour about Amor at the weekend.. Leeds are selling him to Hull after recalling him.. Hoping its a wind up to be honest...

| We are in a strong position in one sense with the momentum we are gathering and now would be the time to offer the likes of Amor and the rest whilst confidence is up there is a real sense of camaradary and spirit amongst the players. This was shown when they all came over to the fans yesterday.
If Amor wants to go elesewhere when clearly he gets on with everyone he is enjoying his rugby, he is playing week in week out and is having stand out performances and the club is clearly on the up then I would say thanks for your efforts and wish you luck for the future. I would suggest it would then be financial reasons he would leave and you can not blame him, he has a young family and does not have red white and blue blood running through his veins like us.
As for the new signings and as I say if true how O Meley Kirke and Mason take us forward I do not know but we have to trust in Agars judgement.
It would be a thank you and goodbye to Mathers, he has cost us too many games this season and called me old fashioned but a full back is supposed to be able to tackle and he can not as seen in the lasttwo games alone.

| Well it was announced that Amor had the choice of who he wants to play for next year by both clubs. Now if Amor has the choice I have a feeling he will choose Wakey playing well and enjoying it with a real team spirit now.I cant see Heathrington going back on his word hes not that type of person and think this Amor to Hull is a bit of a wind up to be honest be we know what rumours are like - my mate/uncle/grandad/girl friends/relative in the know says and its the truth. As for Kirke and Mason no thanks its not an improvement

| I've given up having an opinion!!! Remember we didn't want the coach and most of the players doing so well, up to halfway through the season.

That's the thing isn't it, Leeds are not meant to be able to recall him, it's supposed to be Amor's call.

Well that would be the way it would have to go down, but we keep hearing that Leeds are recalling him to sell him on.

| Quote: Jambon "It is looking like we have started to gel as a team with some great performances over the past few weeks. Where do we feel it is essential to strengthen for next year?
Anyone heard any potential signings or departures?
I would be looking to retain Mathers, Sykes if possible.'"
We have looked good once the weather improved and the pitches got a surer footing (as we did in good Weather Vs Catalan); certainly not the only factor for our improvement. That would be to ignore the great work that Agar and the team have done to turn it round, which I frankly didn't think they could do. I think the better surfaces have suited a lighter but more mobile pack than some sides have but we shouldn't forget how lacking in go forward we were up till the last few games. Powerful props are probably still required, especially if Amor goes. I'm afraid we have got caught out too much on Peter Fox's side of the pitch and that needs looking at. Is it poor centre play or all down to Fox's poor defence? To be fair that was a lot better v Rovers yesterday. Richie Mathers? On the whole he's been fairly solid but I think there's been some disappointing last man tackles at times. We might do better with another full back. Certainly retain Sykes. Most of them if possible. I thought it looked pretty good on paper at the start of the season and it's starting to come together at the last gasp.

| Squad looking like this next season (assuming that we keep Mathers, Amor and Sykes):
1. Mathers
2. Fox
3. Collis
4. L Smith
5. Cockayne
6. Sykes
7. T Smith
8. Amor
9. Ellis
10. Raleigh
11. Lauititi
12. Kirmond
13. Washbrook
14. Aiton
15. Wilkes
16. Mariano
17. New Prop
18. Wood
19. John
20. Johnson
21. Trout
22. Mellars
23. Southern
24. Walshaw
25. Wildie
26. Cowling
27. Spiers
28. Kay
29. Fletcher
That is assuming that James, Tony, Morton, Davey, Annakin all leave. The likes of John, Mellars and Southern may also leave, but with that squad I would personally be pretty happy.

Yeah that way both Leeds and Amor get a financial incentive to do the deal.
