And of this is our plan b, it should not be kept secret from the supporters, because a lot of us don't think we are capable of being that well planned!!!

Usually whilst crying and just before he tells us (again) that meeting the queen was the proudest day of his life.
My old boss owned a villa in marbella and this particular night out there was having a meal in a restaurant and Parky was on the next table dining in company and telling them all about our he used to watch town every week, but didnt have a clue who my boss Duncan Sharp was, who played about 400 games for us, full of kryptonite springs to mind

| Quote: jack in the box "If Wakefield agreed to a ground share at Glasshoughton, Newmarket stadium would not get any council funding. WMDC would put all their funds into GH, they would then provide a stadium within WMDC, they would then have completed what they promised and that would be it. Somehow I can't see us falling for that one.'"
Lets get some facts straight, shall we?
1) Newmarket will be built using private funds - no input from Trin or WMDC required, which is just as well seeing as Trin have no money and WMDC look set to be shafted by the new Govt. It will not be Trinitys ground, but a Wakefield Metropolitan (and I include Castleford in that) Stadium
2) Glasshoughton is a lovely project, but lacks those private funds and so is looking for help from WMDC or Trin to top up - IMO two chances, slim and none! The only dosh around is with Yorkcourt, and they are not a charity desparately trying to build a stadium somewhere! They want their [iquid pro quo[/i in the form of the rest of the development.
3) Glasshoughton is not Castleford, it's just near Castleford, so wherever Tigers move to they're moving out of Cas which is , when all said and done, just a small town in Wakefield So why not move to another stadium that's also not in Cas?
4) BOTH teams future depends on Newmarket!!! At the very least it will allow Cas time to re-group and strengthen their finances, and who knows may allow them to spend a bit more on players and be competitive (before the squeals start, I acknowledge that we could do with a bit of that as well!)
Like it or not, we're in the same boat - and should both be praying for this development to go ahead!

obviously crowds in the lower leagues are lower.once all the fairweather fans stop going.
like i said the true supporters would be there.
what you are saying is if we got relegated (however it came about) you would rather watch a SL team than wakefield trinity.
i am sure if you ask any supporter of these clubs you refer to they will tell you that the real supporters are still there.
any merged team would not represent wakefield even if they built a new stadium (assumably out of fairy dust and magic beans) at normanton lets say.
the new club would just become normanton !

| look if we lose the franchise then we lose the franchise, Wakefield Trinity is still the team i love i will still have a season ticket be it in national league 1 or 2 even the bloody Wakefield league!
if there was a merger then i would be upset yes but i would still support that team and probably grow to love the two but i would still hold the memories of my beloved trinity close to my heart!

I wish you well in your project and really hope both clubs get their respective stadiums but that is the biggest load of bile I've read in a long time on here, and trust me, there are some contenders.
Firstly, regards number 2 - no one knows the state of the stadium but I can guarantee things are progressing and it will be built in some form or another, whether it is built in phases or built in full.
Number 3, Glasshoughton is an area of Castleford, just like Airedale, just like Whitwood and just like Baghill, Monkhill, Carleton in Pontefract. Last time I saw it was written, Glasshoughton, Castleford on addresses.
As for number 4, lol. That's all I have to say. That seems to me to be a Wakey fan pleaing for help in his side's struggle. It shouldn't be like this but unfortunately it is.

| I need a rest from the media, the that is coming out unbelievable they should be loaded with shot guns instead of cameras,
I wouldn't want to skip time but at present just knowing the situation about the ground would settle my nerves and as for JK are we that much of a threat that you need to take him away from us

No, it's just that quality coaches are rare, at least demonstrated by what John Kear has achieved and created for Wakefield.
It's much easier to coach with a side winning trophies, with a big name and with financial backing but it's harder to coach a side nearer the bottom.
If, and that's a big if, the stories are true, it's only because Catalans have huge potential and Kear has the credentials to fulfil that potential.

| It's a stupid article because it has a fundamental flaw, and that is the merged team will be just as stadium-less as the three individual clubs. The merger won't succeed because of location, as Wakey fans won't go to Glasshougton and Cas fans won't go to Newmarket. And Gaslights argument that we should go to Glasshoughtonbecause it's next to a tourist attraction is clutching at straws. If that is the best argument for Glasshoughton, then it doesn't have mch going for it. Using that analogy, we should all go and play at Alton Towers.
The threat from the RFL was about stadia. Merger does not take that any further forward. The stadium likeliest to get built first is Newmarket, and if so, who cares about merger? If it gets approved before the franchise application, we could just look to play somewhere else until it's finished, as Saints had proposed to do. Like Oakwell.

You presume too much,
1) I said if there was a merged side I would watch them, I never said I wouldn't watch Wakefield trinity. This side would still be representing the city of wakefileld after all.
2) your use of the terms fairweather and true fan, would leave you nodoubt delighted on the empty terraces like other lower league clubs with no chance of promotion, the chances of any lower league club going up is getting slimmer year on year due to the franchise criteria and expansionism, there's more value on being in a "breakthrough" area than having a history!
Again reality check.

| I agree Slugger. The merger and stadium issues are completely different issues. Neither helps the other.
For the record I would always watch a Wakefield side. If we share a stadium I'll still go. If we merge and a lower level team starts at Belle Vue I'll probably watch that one. Depends on how the merger happened and its identity. If it really was a genuine merger where everyone agreed to it and club was still a Wakefield club Id watch that one first.

And that is the fundamental difficulty, really. I would watch a merged side if it was a Wakefield side. Its the locations offered that make it difficult, because each one is more in the others patch, which will alienate the other side. I would watch a merged side at Newmarket, but I wouldn't watch one at Glasshoughton, because for me it wouldn't be a Wakefield side, it would be a Castleford side.
The merged side would not play at Glasshoughton anyway, because the organisation who are prepared to fund the stadium want to build it at Newmarket, because they want to build everything else that goes with it. So fine, lets merge and play at Newmarket. I could live with that. I don't think Cas will, and so we end up with one article based on one man's opinion, which is less valid than the opinions expressed on here as it ignores the one issue that the RFL is really bothered about, and that is the stadium.
As for playing at Belle Vue, that has been sold, and so I think we will move out until the new stadium is sorted and base our franchise application on a stadium that would already meet the criteria.

Bloody hell, touchy or what! There's no bile here, just a little leg pull about Glasshoughton not being Cas!
Regards number 2, the Cas stadium may be built in stages - it just depends on whether Stage 1 is good enough for the RFL! As I pointed out, a move to a community stadium at Newmarket (assuming it goes ahead) MIGHT buy you some time!
Regards number 4 (reaches for Hammer and Chisel here!) Wakefield DO NOT NEED YOUR HELP OR YOUR MONEY!! The money is YORKCOURTS. HAVE YOU GOT THAT!! If only I could think of some words with less than 1 syllable!!
