I thought one of the arguments in favour of the ground at the time, one that we used a lot, was that it was due to be taken out of green belt anyway.

Not sure but those dishonourable barstewards will have made some profit off the Newcold development and have ruined the benefit of it being returned to greenbelt with the white box

I think the argument was that the council had a legal obligation to provide Xsq foot of Commercial Development land and this was a big part of meeting that obligation.
If I recall those against suggested they could meet their obligations with the combination of smaller parcels of land elsewhere

| I can't see why the council can't take up Daddycools offer, loan us the money for the Stadium, can we pay back over time including interest. Finally if there's planning permission for a stadium built elsewhere, I think planning permission should allow concerts to be held at the Stadium, most cities have stadiums that hold concerts, it will be great for Wakefield to have one too

| Can't be ar send reading all the way back but I've just received this from David Dagger.
Mick FYI
18 July 2017
For Immediate Release
Wakefield Council responds to new heads of terms issued by Yorkcourt.
“Yorkcourt have let down the Council and the Club but most importantly they have let down the fans and the people of Wakefield.” – that’s the response from the Leader of Wakefield Council following the failure of Yorkcourt Properties Ltd to deliver the written assurance they had led the Council to believe was imminent.
Yorkcourt had previously confirmed their commitment to help deliver a community stadium at Newmarket, and agreed to provide a heads of terms to demonstrate exactly how they will achieve this with the co-operation of all parties.
However the heads of terms that were shared with Wakefield Council and the two Trusts involved with the community stadium, have failed to meet the needs required to take this forward.
The Leader of Wakefield Council, Cllr Peter Box CBE said: “The heads of terms are simply not fit for purpose.
“Despite our best efforts, I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that the developer has no real intention of making good on the promise to deliver a community stadium.
“I believe we are left with no alternative than to call on Yorkcourt to walk away from Wakefield and the Newmarket scheme and stop letting our residents down.”
Wakefield Council has met with the Club and Trust to explore the available options and it was agreed that they will now work with other parties to move this forward.

| they would not have to put it back to green belt but they could be very pedantic with planning applications and place numerous obstacles and demands on all future applications that could greatly reduce its potential and value.
However, they made one large booboo when they agreed with Walker in that infamous secret meeting that Newmarket should not be part of the trigger.

| If York Court do walk away and we need to look into other property developers, could this be something that 88m Group could help with, even if a long stay at BV is out of the question.
Isnt part of their portfolio land and property development, as they probavly want us out of Belle Vue as soon as possible?

| I will believe Mr box if he says that YorkCourt will not be able to have any developments in the Wakefield area. This includes note further planning permission.

They have to do this at the very least. Surely they cannot walk away from this without being punished financially

| You don't often read sense on the nutjob forum but one thing posted today, I agree with.
Newmarket is dead ! we need a new solution. Even if the council are true to their word, getting Mackie and his involvement out of the way up there could take years, if ever.
The council got us into all this mess, they should get us out of it.

| It feels a long way off at the monent DJ cool but I do agree regarding concerts.
I was at the Paul Heaton concert that was part of Hulls city of culture celebrations. It was a good concert with 2 other well known acts on too.
Think there was about 23,000 at Craven Park. Think of the revenue streams for the city as a whole potentially with refreshment and maybe stopovers.
We have the Warehouse and Unity Works but neither hold that much of a capacity for over well known bands to perform.

| So, we're in the bizarre position of having Peter Box as our ally. Weird.
And what next for Rodders? Bluff well and truly called. The wilderness for him, hopefully, and a life ban from our terraces.

| Have alternative sites or sources of funding been discussed at any point with the council, even just informally? Did the rumour about them offering us some land near the old power station have any substance?

Makes it even less likely, Yorkcourt won't pay it back and leave the council with a large debt to repay rather than us. with all the cuts they have had in recent times they won't, probably can't, take the risk.
