| After the match last night he was awarded Sky MOM, he came up to the fans (the other players had already been and were heading to the sheds) and he was tapping that badge on his jersey! Seems like he is absolutely loving it over here and at this team. I hope we do keep him for next season, if he does end up going back to NRL or a 'bigger club' I will not blame him as it is a short career. If he keeps up the performances like yesterday then I think we got our moneys worth last night he looked like the best front rower in the league - I wouldn't swap him for anyone at the minute... He is also only 26, 27 next week I believe so his best years are ahead.

| Giants were poor in defence at times yesterday so Fifita had a field day (Let's face it even Anderson broke through!)
But there will be days when the opposition put 3 men on him and keep stopping him. He'll need to learn to handle that and let others make the break rather than trying the wonder pass.
If we get people ready for a tackle bust and also running him as the dummy runner there will be lots of space for otehr forwards and Miller to exploit.

Do we have a confirmation or a credible source?

| there's a tiny piece on the fox sport website on transfer gossip...
it says Newcastle are making a list of potential targets and D Fifita is likely to be on the list... then goes on to speculate on how family wanting him home might sway his decision.
to be fair this source is less reliable than Nosey Parker on a bad day!
however unlike the OP; I do think he is NRL standard and is well liked... so it might turn out that way....
I was stunned the Sharks allowed him to go, indeed they are seeking a replacement before the signing deadline in a few days.
PS if he is part of a Trinity 2016 Wembley cup winning team he goes with my grateful thanks for helping to create history.

'As expected'..... didn't you say this about him when he joined Quote: BOJ04 "UNFIT AND WONT ADD ANYTHING - would be lucky to make our best 17'"
Anyway if he plays like he did last game till the end of the season, I'd be gutted for him not to stay, he's got that X-factor. Like Spookdownunder says it's only a bit of gossip atm so who knows what will happen.

| Yes, I have just seen it too.
Would be a shame if it happens.
Also, with Scruton going at end of the season, and if the rumours about Anderson are true, then we are back to square one with the front row.
Should we looking at replacing these with English players, as there are a few props off contract at the end of the year. and then look to bring in extra half back from Down Under.
Could be worth looking for 2, one older one, and one younger half for them to learn off. Joe Keyes would have been a good choice for the younger player, but that has now been scuppered

| He seems to be enjoying it over here and his older brother is over here it is all speculation ATM. If he goes then fair dos but hes our player at the minute and theres still plenty of games left.

| To be honest, it's not totally bad news for us that Newcastle want him. It shows other top teams think we have a good one.
If it turns out we only have a good one to the end of the season then so be it. Still a bonus for us.

| Worse case scenario - he has a blast with us, goes home at the end of the season, and tells the players he associates with that Wakey is a decent little club that will treat you right; that does no harm in terms of our future ability to recruit from the NRL.
Best case - he has a blast with us, and decides to stay for another season.

Correct, there is nothing going on here. It's a bit like the Aussies used to do when we played in the winter and it used to work rather well for some clubs.
Fifita is not our property. Whether he stays next year it will all be down to cold hard cash.
Some people love to make a drama.

| The option to extend his deal beyond the end of this season - is that up the club alone or does the player have a say in it?
I only ask as you wonder if we could extend the deal and request a fee from Newcastle if the rumours are true.
