| Crowther lacks any perceivable passing game which a modern day LF needs.

I wouldn’t be against him playing there but maybe not from the start of the games, but moving into 13 as the initial heat has gone out of the game.
I did suggest this would be the plan behind signing him, but when Milky was linked with a move away I thought he would be a direct replacement for him but obviously that never happened.
I think the intensity at the start of a match would be too much for him however once the game opens up I can see him moving there to play as the extra pivot as the game opens up.
I think he is an astute signing who probably due to his ability to play in so many positions across the backline and as the ball handling 13 now he is reaching the matter end of his career.
I think it was mentioned by one of the former coaches that he could slip in there.

To be fair the game is very different now to how it used to be played; forwards were forwards and backs were back -rarely did you see a SR forward on the field not packing down. That;s not the case now though, we see FB's packing down and sometimes it seems the first six there pack down! The LF of spends as much time it seems, out of the pack as in it!

| Tough season to come can we finish above Toulouse Huddersfield Hull KR Salford?
Salford have recruited well as have Hull KR.
No doubt we will upset one or two of the big boys but to survive wins have to come v these four.
10th is my bet.

Really? It's odd how we all see things differently,
I think Crowther has a fair passing game, but the ball playing loose forwards which you say the modern game needs, barely exist IMO.
Joe Westerman came close but he was no Steve Norton, nor even close to LF's of that quality.
I've said earlier I wish we had a good ball playing LF, but because of the scrum structures as they are such a player is not essential.

| Let's be clear about a LH passing game.
It isn't the ability to pass the ball we need. We have loads of players who can do that.
It's the ability to run at the line and put doubt in the oppositions mind whether you will pass or run, and if you choose to, put a pass in that hits the right player.
That requires a forward with a running game. That's what Crowther needs to improve. He has the hands.

I agree. What people have done is view Crowthers passing game when he played a few games at hooker. For a hooker, his passing game or distribution was not up to scratch but for a modern LF, he's ok if not the best.

A good squad player at the moment, but if he continues to mature as he has then I do see him in the long term as a LF and I think he'll be a good 'un .

Massive difference between passing from the floor and whilst running in open play. Not just Crowther, but Kay, Ashurst, Walker and everyone else who covered at hooker were well behind Kyle Wood in this respect.
Regarding your other thread, I’d agree Hood needs to be one of our key players this year. Not just in terms of getting us on the front foot, but I think he’ll be expected to play some big minutes as well. I was pleased when we signed him, but I did hope we’d keep Kyle for another year as well.

Why?
Have you been in training and are now 100% fit?
