Who knows what's in it for him? Why did Sheikh Mansour buy Man City? Is there oil under Manchester?
He's obviously not interested because he thinks there's a quick buck to be made, nor does he need to make one. Why did he want his own company to expand to reach a turnover of 500m? He was a multi-millionaire at the time. Did he need the extra cash?
I guess some people just like the challenge. If he can be the one who takes a famous name like Wakefield Trinity and brings back the glory days to the club, it reflects well on him as a person/businessman, and in the meantime provides entertainment for him, his friends and his business associates. We're all in it for fun (or that's how it's supposed to be). Maybe he can get his kicks from running the club too?
So, to summarize... I have absolutely no idea.

Same here, that's why I would suggest actions speak louder than words. Words are cheap and there's an abundance of them on here. I'm not denying the mans motives or hi ability to deliver. I'll just believe it when I see it. I'll leave faith to the experts in dog collars  |

FFS - all I'm telling you is rumour and gossip - as much as it is possible to tell.
Do you not think that it's impossible to try and represent supporters interests without stumbling along bits and pieces of information - none of which are fact yet because no deals have been done.
There is nothing to tell - yet - and whether you're sick of it or not makes no difference at this time. Patience is required by all of us, but I remain hopeful of a positive outcome and will continue to try and present the supporters interests in the best way that I can. |

Fair enough, but we have heard all this stuff before. Yes it is a possible scenario no doubt, but that is all it is IMO. At this moment I can see far more reasons why it won't happen than it will. If anyone can tell me why it's a goer I'm ready to listen, but as you say for now it's all speculation.
Not having a go at you TRB but it's the same over optimistic speculation that had us believing the diggers would be at Newmarket by now. We need to stop writing the headline before we have the story IMO. I know this is a forum and that is the nature of the beast but there has to be a counterbalance to the rampant speculation which is why I and a few others are questioning without hopefull appearing vindictive or negative.

People (me included) on here use your history of inside knowledge as a glimpse to the inside of the workings of the club, it is no surprise then that if you state facts people jump up and down a bit.

Reading through the thread it appears to me that it makes perfect sense for Parkin to centralize his businesses in one place (Newmarket). It is also true that Guisley need to improve their ground shortly and by moving to Newmarket he can get Guisley a new ground for free which again appears to make perfect sense. The only thing that may cause issues is moving Guisley to Wakefield, we wont know whether they will loose or gain fans by doing this. As for buying us, it would make sense for him to invest what is probably loose change for him in order for him to effectivly control the newmarket stadium and also it would probably be cheaper to run two teams out of one stadium then it is to run one team because it would give him all round income as opposed to just football in the winter or rugby in the summer.

Correct, and that's the one that I don't really get.
His business is logistics, right? Why would he need to, never mind want to centralise his operations? He already has an HQ. If he operates nationwide, surely he won't have all his warehouses in the same place? And if he does, well, he doesn't have to saddle himself with a rugby league club to do it.
Now if he plans to move Guiseley to Newmarket if/when the stadium is built, and if he has established connections with Wakefield because his football team train here (why???), then maybe that's the key?
