| The new stands at POR look to be coming on well and depending how they develop the opposite end, it will be a tidy RL ground, with more soul than many of the new Lego style stadiums that are around these days.
It's supposed to be somewhere to go and watch a game of RL and they are definitely making progress.
Their problem wont be the ground, it will be finding enough willing customers to go and spend their Sunday afternoons watching Fev play.
I really can't understand folk knocking them, they should be applauded for trying to make progress, in spite of the lack of prospects of promotion.

As I understand it's been put back for a while as the overseas players aren't here.

Yes we have 3 days in Wales.
It shows how the other half live as I was travelling with work last week and was at Manchester as the Warrington guys were on their way to Oz for their preseason.
Every player was kitted out with Wolves branded bags and kit. They looked the part and the full squad was there too. Young kids that you could tell had never travelled anywhere were on their way to Oz.
Wigan I think are doing Florida.
I'm sure I saw Hull are going overseas too.
Maybe Wales is what we need as it is more representative of our league but it does show the difference in cash and sponsorship at those clubs

This is the error people make IMHO - it wasn't a game it was a training exercise with live ammo.
If you analyse it we rotated the props over 20 times, so not IMO a serious effort to win a game.
Also that slope, they really know how to use it.

Aye, that's a fair comment; it was pointed out to me on numerous occasions by the person I was with, but I think the cold and the mud put me in a bad mood.

It wasn't our best side (assuming the three overseas players are going to be successful and smith and lautiti to come back in) but we were beaten in all departments by fev today.
The experienced players came up short today.'"
Of course they did it was a training exercise - if you think Agar cares about the result he won't because he won't have considered it a real game. Whats more worrying to me is some of the young players who had something to gain maybe didn't perform as well as perhaps I hoped they would!
Problem is it's yours/my pride that's hurt not his and that's the problem with friendless - I'd go as far as renaming them training run 1,2 and 3.
Don't get me wrong it was hard to watch, but unlike the boxing day game which is a bit of a treat for the fans this was pure training and pretty boring to watch.
Agar on the other hand may have gleamed a treasure trove of info.
So no I don't think it was a fair point, but one none the less he is free to make.
PS: I lost interest in the result of friendlies years ago after HKR scored over a 100 points against Chorley(I think) in one. Their new star player from RU Bishop had a blinder and they looked a real challenger for the title- I believe they were relegated that year and were not to grace the top fight for over 15 years.
friendlies - bah

| I don't know you'd have said the same thing two weeks ago after drawing with Leeds vasty????
Though your comments are correct - the only "concern" would be that decision making/kicking were of low quality.
Cas for example drew 30-30 with Halifax and most people came away positive, cause Danny Orr played 30 minutes, and when he wasn't on the field we moved the ball really well and turned the ball over in the right areas.
We conceded 30 points yeah, but I'd rather have our defensive frailties exposed on 26/12/2013 than on 16/04/2014 - we've got 4 months to review it and work on putting it right.
It doesn't helpto give a good reflection when, from what I've heard, it was proper winter rugby serving as preparation for a summer season

| your point that "frendly results don't matter" .......I don't think you'd have said the same about drawing with Leeds? I'm sure you were full of praise for that result?
The rest of my post wasn't raising a point, other than stating what I percieve to be important about friendlies and what isn't

| For what its worth i enjoyed the game it got rid of the closed season cobwebs and wetted the appetite for the coming season, my look on the game as follows:-
The featherstone team were more or less the same players who not long since finished a successfull season in the championship and were match fit and up for it, Wakefield on the other hand did not resemble the team that finish low down the table months ago, they were no where near match fit.
The match its self was predictable in fact i predicted the result before kick off i think it will have done the players good to get that under their belts and prepare for the next one.
I was stood right near the corner where the last two efforts were ruled out and the first one was on the line and the last one (i think it was Peter Foxes) effort was grounded both ruled out by the ref but what do you expect when he comes from ponte.
All in all Feth desrved the win and i am looking forward to the Huddersfield game.

11 of those players yesterday didn't play at Featherstone last year and no championship side who work all day should be fitter than a S/L team of full time players It look to me as though some of your players didn't want to be there I agree it was only a friendly but you should win these games or are people right and the gaps not that big at the bottom of S/L and the top of the championship

17 full time players on your books by all accounts.

As I clearly alluded to the Leeds game is more a treat for the fans and tends to resemble a real game with a game plan and realistic player rotation, so yes I probably would.
It's a poor attempt to to create a storm in a tea cup Dave even by your recent standard.
The Fev game never resembled a proper game with Props being spelled every ten mins etc. It's not an attempt to dismiss Featherstone though who on the day gave us a far harder game than Cas normally manage.

you really love this far too much.
My original post was 4 paragraphs of agreeng with you.
Secondly, if you think Leeds game plan was comparible with a Super League game, you need to actually watch it back. How many times will Zak Hardaker play SO for them this season???
But yes, the Leeds game, great result. Sunday's game, the result isn't important.
Hypocritical piffle. Make your mind up.
