WIth broughs current financial issues, he is unable to get a mortgage, which leads me to believe that mr davy is to buy him a house and take the mortgage repayments out broughys wage. Huddersfield have offered him a 4.5 and a 4 yr deal depending when they can secure his services. They have also offered brough almost double what we have offered in wages.

The club says nobody is bigger than them, however sometimes in life you have a give a little more to get a lot more and doing so with brough i think we'd get that bit more.

we always let a good player go then spend the next couple of seasons rebuilding and reshaping things on the field around whoever we bring in - who, generally, tends to not be as a good a player as the one we have let go....

Whilst I agree he is a quality player, if Hudds are supposedly paying him double what we have offered and buying him a house (through Ken Davey) how can we be expected to compete. It is already noted we had offered him a contract to make him the highest player in the clubs history.

We have to use our limited resources wisely and cannot afford to tie too much up on one player - I also think that doing so would upset the team spirit that is one of the main reasons why we constantly exceed many peoples expectations.

Sorry I also understand he has expressed his wish to leave for quite some time, so quite possibly nothing we could do would be good enough

It appears to me we've done everything we possibly could to secure his services. We can't offer what we don't have, and I'm pretty sure that in offering him the deal we did, we hit the pain barrier and possibly beyond. I don't think you can point the finger of blame at the Wakefield BoD here. I'm sure they're perfectly well aware of the asset they have in Danny Brough, and have done everything they reasonably, and legally could to retain his services.

So by definition he should be an international but isn't so that makes that part of your arguement flawed. He was over looked in favour of two teenager scrum halves (Myler & Eastmond) for last season's 4 nations. I am sure that Burrow would be ahead of him also. So to say he is the best half back in super league is a bold statement but (as much as I wish you were right) not a correct one. The best kicking game yes.

I would like to give people another scenario to think about.

We pay Brough £xyz to keep him and maybe next season's budget doesn't allow for us to stay under the salary cap, so we have to release say 3 maybe 4 promising youngsters that would have been promoted to the first team squad. They then go on to bigger and better things with other clubs.

Earlier this week people were bigging up Gledhill (and rightly so), but I bet if you asked at Cas honestly why he was up for grabs and not at their club anymore somewhere in the grand scale of things money would come into it.

People are so quick to praise Danny Brough, on his day he is a very good player, but he is not a great player. One of our great players (who is no longer with us) once said to me "A good player takes the praise when he gets it right, but it great player also turns it around when it goes wrong aswell."

Just look at the League Table and the Super League fixture lists, we are named as Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, not Danny Brough and the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

Sometimes people buy into the hero worship stuff just a little too easily. When he first signed, it was I wouldn't pay him used washers and now people are for paying the equivalent of the national debt of mexico. I am with the club on this one you have to stand at some point.

Fairly sure that, having played for Scotland the year previously, he had to wait 2 years to be considered for selection? Or is this wrong?

not sure on the time scale but some truth in having to wait, as for me i think once you have nailed your colors to the mast....

This is better than reading the Beano, DB is a RL player "supposedly" signing for Huddersfield Giants not an international footballer signing for Man Ure. If you're going to spread rumours at least make them believable.

Maybe we have/maybe we haven't, whatever I very much doubt anyone on here knows the true facts. If we illegally poached him then I'm sure your chairman will contact the relevant authorities and report it, or perhaps he'll confide with a few of the "in the know posters on here first" who knows ???

Still think the "double salary", "buying him a house" and all the other far fetched rumours posted on this site are way off the mark, Uncle Ken's a business man not a charity.
