All their Super League contracts are null and void.
They could have just written a contract for next year covering both options. It's not difficult.

| I actually think Gale is a decent signing, if he can get us around the pitch then that should hopefully free Lino up. I think Lino has come in for some harsh criticism because he is literally our only threat at times so all the oppositions focus is on him. In terms of Smith I was excited when we signed him and from watching him there is a player in there but not for a team like us. He reminds me a bit of Danny Maguire in the way that he looks to play off the back of people rather than being the creator himself but the issue is that we don't have anything for him to play off. I think in a better team he would be more successful.

This is what I do hope is happening for a certain few players I would really not want to lose. The likes of Eseh and some of our younger talent.
If possible I would really like us to keep Whitbread.
No reason the club shouldn’t nagotiate failsafe contracts with certain players depending g what league we could end up in. Suppose it’s taking the initiative.
As I said if we are to end up relegated we must make sure we have the strongest squad in the championship and continue to build and not end up like Bulls/Widnes who cut the squad and ended up struggling for years.

I was just reading some of the forums from other clubs earlier this morning, and Wigan fans were mentoning Eseh.
Hopefully, it was just fans that are saying who'd they'd like to have in their squad etc, but isn't it getting towards that time now when they can discuss with other clubs.
Like you though, I would like us to keep Eseh and Whitbread

Eseh is under contract but other SL clubs will be circling a select few like Eseh who have potential to play for GB in a handful of years. They will be ready to jump in at the first opportunity.
Whitbread is attracting the same interest from NRL and SL clubs allegedly.
We need to focus on getting the points at Warrington though. If we
Can pull out a win things will all of a sudden look brighter. Wire are stumbling a bit too.
Tanginoa back and Gale in will be a boost all been well.

| Doesn’t matter what anyone thinks of Gale because we had no choice.
For twenty years the game has concentrated on muscular robots. These robots are to be led by tame ringmasters with little spark of their own.
We ran out of our own little Generals who could think for themselves years ago, the last imho being Broughy.
Since then we’ve been filling the gaps with second rate Aussies or attempting to convert Loose Forwards.
Now it’s come home to roost. Gale isn’t just the best he’s the only one out there. For all his flaws and his age we are signing a player who at the very least believes in himself and has the experience to do so. Whether Gale can still do it who knows, but at least he might try - that makes him almost unique in our squad. I don’t doubt Lino tries but it no substitute for it actually working.
This is the last throw of the dice and it needs to be a double six. So I suggest we all shut up, back the bloke, and pray it works

We had choices but decided on the ones that were based on the one that reduced the player budget to the maximum possible. We all knew even those who are blinded by the light of loyalty that the squad and coach was selected for one purpose only economics. They have subsequently made decisions that have weakened the squad further by trying to patch over the cracks with short term signings. Well we have made another decision to invest in an ageing scrum half who has not exactly sparkled in his previous SL stint. He may be our best hope but surely this is also an example of how far we have fallen this season, another string to MC’s legacy bow.
We have long had that last dice throw with our current playing record but you and those you defend believe in him, so let’s see how it goes.

Why after 10 years are we in the position we are, surely during that time it would be possible to generate income from a well run business in the top flight of the sport. You may be right and we had no choices this season but who are to blame for this the supporters, the referees or those in charge.

but decided on the ones that were based on the one that reduced the player budget to the maximum possible. - no you don't know that
We all knew even those who are blinded by the light of loyalty that the squad and coach was selected for one purpose only economics. - nope you don't know that. I agree it was weak but you don't know the conclusion you draw
They have subsequently made decisions that have weakened the squad further by trying to patch over the cracks with short term signings. - not sure why signing more players weakened it more. Only the Hall deal could possibly do that.
Well we have made another decision to invest in an ageing scrum half who has not exactly sparkled in his previous SL stint. He may be our best hope but surely this is also an example of how far we have fallen this season, - I agree
another string to MC’s legacy bow. - no it isnt
We have long had that last dice throw with our current playing record but you and those you defend believe in him, so let’s see how it goes. - if him is MC? then it's not a case of believing in him. He's in the position so he's the only alternative right now.

I'm not sure why you think that. No other club is doing it at a profit.
But he and JM have now created something to do exactly that.

They may well have reported an operating profit but the club is now saddled with the biggest debt we have ever had. I know most of this is tied up in the loan to the council but if we do go down I don't see how we would be able to afford it with no Sky money and reduced crowds. Then there is also the elephant in the room of the directors loans...

| Gale and his blabber mouth agent have been really quiet on social media regarding the move. Think it’s a good thing, hopefully he’s just come in, got his head down and cracked on. I like it.
