Agree RC and great credit goes to the people who made this happen, more recently JM and MC, but I suspect there was continued work by TRB and possibly IA - I don't know but they did so much initially that they deserve huge thanks as well!

I think you may be right 1315. After all the years that TRB and IA plus Sandal Cat put into achieving the goal I can't imagine that they would have not retained interest in the outcome up until the present day. Thanks to all of them and others that have been involved.

No! No! No!, WC. Surely that was the meeting attended by hundreds of fans at Cedar Court hotel about 11 years ago which turned out to be Glover's sales pitch to sell Club 1873 memberships.

Funny you should mention TRB, I’m sure I’ve seen something in the recent planning documents regarding the landscaping for the car park etc, that mentioned the company in the design for landscaping. Turner and Townsend. I know TRB was working with a landscaping company and did a big job up North West, Barrow I think it was. If this is the company he’s involved with then, Well done, and thanks for all that you and SWAG, members did towards getting to today’s memorable day.

I may be wrong but I think that might be a coincidence in the name. However I have not spoken to him since Feb so he may have started his own business since then.

| Something that hasn't really been made a big deal of, is the plan that the new stand will be something like a 150-event a year venue (I may be under-quoting that - I forget the detail), on top of the match-day events.
That's a LOT of jobs of work for the people of Wakefield.
Obviously the club will have modelled the numbers, but does anyone on here have an insight to revenue streams of weddings, conferences, bar mitzvahs?...you get the idea.

The venue has two huge advantages so should get a good premium.
1. It will be modern and attractive to look at and has plenty of secure directly in front car parking for almost any wedding/function I can imagine.
2. Often forgotten how vital this is but BV is in walking distance of town for most people, especially the young. An attractive proposition for the young who may wish to carry on the party. Frankly access for both day and night events is about as good as you can get.
I’ve lived in Wakey for well over 40 years and it’s never really had a good multi event space. Painthorpe was the last one but that was to far for sone, ditto Stanley.
Run well it’s should be close to a 24/7 cash cow, especially when combined with the flats which themselves still offer a useful venue.
That said not sure what restriction there are on it’s use by the Council, there don’t look to be any but they may have some time restrictions where it must be for community use?

| I'd add that the new Tileyard complex will add something to the matchday experience.
Not "our money" or income, but it will help to draw people out in the first place.
Not sure when that's scheduled to open though.

The old Rutland mills building at the side of the Hepworth building. I think it’s the same group/company that refurbished the area around Kings cross station in London.

It's the old Rutland mills on waterside front next to Hepworth Gallery, they have all been refurbished and made into what is the largest creative industry units outside of London. Mainly to do with music , art , acting etc.
