I was 100% behind yesterday’s decision but looking out the window it’s nothing more than a wet blustery day and we’ve played in far worse. It’s not like we don’t need the game time or the points and imo we’ll never get a better chance of beating le cats on a wet blustery night, never mind those fans who won’t stand out in a bit of inclement weather, whatever we lose in gate money may pale into insignificance later on if we don’t use the weather to our advantage .

I agree. Just seen the forecast and it's not good.
Apart from Health and Safety issues, surely the pitch will be unplayable?

Thats not the issue, its the safety of people around the ground. All round grey horse flooded and it was gusting at like 60mph. Its not the clubs call to make

Many posters seem to be overlooking this fact.

If you're in any doubt that calling off was the right decision - you need to give your head a wobble and stop playing the hard man; the consequences of any health and safety incident would be *catastrophic* for the club; and if you were in charge, would you want the consequences of an incident like that on your conscience?

Aside from all that, this will by no means have been MC deciding he couldn't be ar5ed - there will have been numerous parties involved in the decision to cancel - including the RFL.

And if you're lolling about the storm and talking about snowflakes, spare a thought for our comrades in Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd - losing their homes and businesses - again - because of the weather and incomplete flood defences.

Don’t know if anyone else saw the RNLI boat attempting to battle the seas to get to a bloody surfer, wow, what heroes they are and for nothing eusa_clap.gif I’d have horse whipped the brain dead surfer once on dry land.

I'm as anti-snowflake as they come but this analogy some are using is ridiculous.

Apart from the things you've rightly just highlighted, the pitch will be waterlogged. Correct me if I'm wrong, I am after all a mere summer RL person but weren't games called off in the old 'hard as nails' days due to waterlogged pitches?

As an aside, going on last weekends show, I'd have thought most on here would be delighted to see the game postponed. We don't look ready to beat Catalan so the chance to face them later in the season with hopefully some key players back and finding form is a godsend. Luck can work both ways even for us.

Quite - although it means our first home game will be Wire, which is likely to be a bloodbath on recent showings; let's hope the wrath of god makes that one unplayable an all.

i remember the 'good old days' and have actually turned up at the ground more than once to find the game had been postponed at literally the last minute.
unlike now, rarely did a season pass without one or more postponed games.
like you say, may be a blessing in disguise.

As I said in my post Bren I was 100% behind yesterday’s postponement and if the pitch is not up to standard today well fair do’s but to bring the flooding in Hebron bridge into the cancellation of a game of rl is a strange one to me. Maybe if people didn’t build houses on flood plains and all the rest but that’s another debate entirely.Nothing about a tough man in my post was kinda saying that we live in the north of England not the Balearics and it’s called Winter for a reason.

Summer rugby you can't beat it. From a personal point I used to enjoy wrapping up to watch a game with two pairs of socks on , warm over coat scalf and a hot cup of bovril from the cabin.
Great memories and some great matches seen in attrousiose playing conditions. One that sticks in the memory bank was Widnes at home . The snow had been cleared showing the line markings and a brown ball used. Particularly enjoyed the banter with Woods the Widnes full back he was as tough as nails and dirty in to the bargain.
