Not knowing what players earn makes it almost impossible to acess if thats avetage or good. If true 60000 seems a very good wage to me with the average salary reported to be around £30000 iin the every day world. , also how many clubs would have that kind of money available at this stage to accommodate that kind of money.'"
Interesting, I heard that too from a reliable person but dismissed it as ridiculous. I’ll say now I don’t know for certain it’s true but to hear it from two seperate people gives it a touch more credence.
I’ll say straight off if that’s true then we were being extremely generous because that right at the top end of what I’d pay him FWIW

But he's entitled to want more, the club are entitled to limit their offer to what they think is fair. If they don't match its a bit of a problem.'"
That figure is on the love rugby league app ! So its out for all to see its still there if you want to check! Why someone would release that figure is beyond belief it may have been someone at our club just doing a bit of stiring up! we will never know.

Fair enough. Didn't see that.
Then I agree it's ok to post. Worth saying where it was posted to make sure there is no misunderstanding if it come up again.

Don’t get it?
Sorry I just got it, yes about twice that with the proviso the figure quoted is true and I don’t suppose we will ever know.
Move on it’s old news and doesn’t benefit anyone. I think we can all be fairly certain that’ Hampshire won’t play for Trinity again.
It’s sad bit not a tragedy imo.

| This thread is about Trinity contracted players so Hampshire is the one player we really shouldn't be including here.
I'm as guilty as anyone but if anyone wants to continue the conversation (which as Fish says is pretty pointless now) by all means start a new thread.

| Its a strange figure to pick out of thin air. Like i said if true to me its a good wage. Most if the fans and including me will be well short of that ammount. If a bus driver can earn just short if that ammount with over time goid luck to them.
Wages and contracts remain a mystery to me and jyst what players earn in general seem a well guarded secret.
Qute ioften we have assumptions made of players wages and if the player in questions worth it, without any idea of the individual eaenings its almost impossible to access.
Yes a players lifes short and are some stage or another they will probably end up in the every day world earning an every day wage.
The 60000 opened my eyes when i saw it but hiw does it compare ti other players within the club.

I read about that figure on TotalRL if I remember right.

| The question is not why we have not resigned Hampshire but why did we give a 35 year old scrum half a two year deal. I guess the logical idea would be one year to assess his game now but by giving him two we basically sacrificed Hampshire because we have put our faith in Brough. This was further confirmed by the comments from Chester praising his performance at Hull KR whilst never questioning his shocking efforts in the losing run.
I believe many on here questioned the length of the contract at the time it was announced. I think at 36/37 you need cover if he is to be your starter and also be willing to drop him if performances drop, but if you go into the season with no obvious scrum half replacement it is Brough or now we have no Hampshire who?

You seem to have a big problem with Brough and his age, whilst I accept we need cover for half backs Hampshire is not the answer, for whom you seem to have a love in, if coaches Wane and Powell didn’t rate him in that position but I suppose you know better. I agree that Brough went through a bad patch but was no different to other “younger” players during that time. As we don’t know who is yet to sign, we may be yet to sign cover for these positions.

| Crikey mate, let's see who gets brought in instead of going over old ground with Hampshire or whether giving Brough 2 years was right or wrong. We've obviously got a number of more signings to make, lets wait & we might be pleasantly surprised about who they bring in.
Ateotd, not every deal works out perfectly but MC & CC have got most calls correct as far as assessing a players value, contract length etc and making the right calls.

His preference is for Hampshire before Brough yours clearly isn't, does that mean that your opinion trumps his, you say Hampshire isn't the answer stating that Brough like the rest of the team went through a bad patch, perhaps you'd like to remind us the last time Hampshire had a bad game never mind a bad patch.
Oh and one last thing you mentioned Wane and Powell, the last thing Wane did before allowing Hampshire to go to Cas on loan was to make him sign a new deal at Wigan, and as far as I'm aware apart from the new contract at Wigan being a sticking point both Hampshire and Solomona had the same agent and because of the Solomona debacle would not deal with Hampshires agent. Hth.

I have no problem with Hampshire, he had pace and he gave 100% each game, however he seems to have a problem with new contracts, it’s obvious he thinks he is worth more than Trinity are offering, we went through the same process last year when he didn’t sign until late. I don’t think he has done himself any favours by selling himself through media releases.
