So because nothing takes place the club make an offer to another player to cover the full back spot if true that would indicate that Rocky not thought of as a half back and Max remains second choice at F/B.'"
Or maybe, because of the involvement of an agent, it's a game of chicken in which neither driver has turned away at the last moment, and has resulted in a headlong collision?

| Quote: RWB "I agree, it must be much easier to get deals done this way.
However its a short career really, I understand that players want/need the best deals possible. Without an agent that knows what other players are earning elsewhere etc it would be hard for a player to truly know their worth.'"
Just a question here.
If you were the player and you really wanted to stay at the club, you would be ensuring that your agent either got you the deal or extended the deadline and NOT allow the deadline to pass, with the chance that you could be without a club next season.
I would suggest that the player has far more to lose than the club, unless of course he knows for certain that there would be a comparable offer from elsewhere.
If you are negotiating a deal, you dont keep going back to the other party, unless you want to offer a concession, which of course, weakens your negotiating position.
The club dont appear to have done anything wrong here, other than not offering quite what the player wanted.
Unfortunately, none of us are indispensable, no matter how good we are at our job.

| OK, don't shoot me down, as I have worked for a Sports Agent as an associate.
I think firstly, its very emotive on here as it concerns our club and a player who is well thought of by most - with the odd bizarre exception or two.... and who most would like to sign on again.
I worked for an agent who was predominantly football - Championship, L1 & L2, but also had cricketers and rugby players. Obviously as many have pointed out, RL wages are less than football and even cricket, hence why for RL players its key that a contract with a figure they are happy with can be agreed.
I'd just like to point out that its not an easy job and although I have been out of it for a fair number of years, I still keep in touch with whats going on.
My daughter is a professional dancer and I act as her agent. As her agent, I try to get the very best deal - just as I suspect Rocky's agent will be doing. Its just a matter of getting the best and compromise.
I have also recently been asked to be the agent of a footballer who I know who has just signed for Barnsley FC.
The other thing I would say is that its not all about money.

Fair enough see what you mean. I weren't trying to suggest the two are linked as such but our recruitment policy in general is what i was getting at.

Potentially but you don't know what advice the agent is giving. If a contract offer lapsed is it the players responsibility to start negotiations? Personally would say that is on the club. Either way I just think both parties shouldn't have let it go on this long. Chester/MC could surely have pulled Rocky for a 5 min chat after training some time ago for initial discussions to see how far apart they were.
Bored of the whole saga now tbh. With Walker and Jowitt we have two good young fullbacks. If the Leigh interest in Reynolds is real I would still be looking to retain Rocky as competition/back up to the halves.

Yes that is very reassuring!
Are you planning to wait until the season is over before any announcements are made on new signings?

Is this in a Tyler Randall and Kelepi Tanginoa hadn’t been discussed kind of way?

Perhaps Dave Solomona is coming out of retirement and we need ferres as his boot boy again

Really relieved because we would not be in a rush to renew our season tickets to watch that grub run around in the red, white n blue

| Good to hear the Ferres rumour shot down although it would have had no bearing whatsoever on me purchasing my 2020 season ticket.

Ferres never quite managed to get close to being "the new Solomona", something we were told that he was all those years ago.
Solomona was absolute class.
