Quote: vastman "Dear god, you do realise he was twice capped for England, has McShane?

You're inability to understand true talent however wayward is quite hilarious.

My reputation is well earned and you're another notch on my belt

Matt Cook has played for England, is he a better player than Craig Huby ?

McShane still has time to get international recognition. Most people who know the game (unlike you) have made a point of saying he must be hammering down the door for England.

Scott Moore couldn't do some of the things Macca can, nor did he have a brain like Macca or an ability to read the game.

Hope that helps.

Rubbish but then it's all about opinions isn't it and as ever Cas fans are over egging it as they did with Joe Westerman (remember him, greatest player of his generation).

Let me let you into a secret - Cas are a good team but that doesn't automatically make every player in it a great player.

You put McShane in against the Aussies and they would skin him alive because as noted on here he lacks ticker and then lets see how 'smart' and how 'gifted' he is compared to Moore who had way to much.

You but Cas fans will never allow truth, stats or just basic reality to get in the way.

I always though Moore had talent but I didn't realise how much until he played for us and he was well past his best at that point.

Could of, should of unfortunately.

He played for us twice so I think we are entitled to our views on scott Moore. As for Westerman, also capped by England! Though I'd argue he could have had a better career but liked to party too much. When bigging up a young player I was more in the Daryl Clark camp. He's not a bad player is he?

I know that not all our players are great, I think our wingers and centres aren't particularly great. But our 9 is.

Fair enough but I did know that it just wasn't relevant, that's why I said he should or could have become the best number nine of his generation. In fact I suppose logically he should have become the best no 7 which is possibly a more prestigious position.

Robey would have been a tricky one I admit whilst Cunningham came from a previous generation. What's sad is Moore never really got close other than in 2009 because he suffered from a mental illness - i.e. he was and probably still is a total wally off the pitch which few would deny.

He's great for you I wouldn't deny that, same as Woody is for us - but neither imho are actually great players.

Also I'm not convinced Clarke has exactly fulfilled his potential.

Anyway I'm now certain McShane will have a blinder against us tonight icon_lol.gif

I'd have Clark over McShane at 9 all day long and had you not needed some cash (at the time), I'm pretty sure that everyone over t'common would have liked to keep hold of him instead.

Went backwards under TS but has been better this year plus he's far more of a pro than Westerman ever was. Still relatively young really at 25 and has played at Wembley 3 times and for England,

Maybe McShane didn't have heart for you, or thats how you perceived it but he certainly does for us, he's often stand out in a losing cause this season. To say he doesn't have a ticker or heart is just plain wrong. The Aussies wouldn't skin him alive either, he has that element of housary in him, he'd do alright.

I do think McShane will play for England at some point.

For what’s it worth McShane is a much better player than I first thought, but I agree that some of the talk of him being in the top 5 hookers in the word is laughable. He suits DP’s style & does what he asked of him to a tee.
I personally never saw anything from Moore other than him being more developed at 16 than most lads in his position at 19. He has also proved, time & time again, that he is incapable of doing what his coach (or anyone in authority for that matter) tells him. His passing from dummy half was some of the worst I’ve ever seen in a Cas shirt & that’s saying something!

Who has the most talent is debatable, who made the most of their talent is not. Simples

Quote: vastman "Is it really that big?

By the I mean it's still 17 what you would call first choice players - it's the penultimate game of the season and as far as I'm aware we are yet to blood any first year contract players let alone any Academy lads.

Not too bad really all things considered.'"

Apparently so according to CC. We've had to put England and Kirmond in to make up the 19 and they're both injured. He says if we get a few injuries this week we might be struggling big time for the last game. We're lucky that we have a decent number of back rowers but we've got 4 props out and not really any first years to bring in, that's where we're really struggling. In the backs, we can switch around players if injured and we have some cover there though.

Injuries have mounted up a bit in certain areas but rather now than mid-season & like you say not too bad all things considered.

Not sure what's going on with Jordan Baldwinson, because surely he'd be playing if he isn't on a DR deal.

Also, agree we don't have a skinny squad either, we had 30 players at the start of the year, with just 4 first years. We've lost Finny & MCB but their positions aren't the problem.

Quote: vastman "How was our squad any more skinny than yours?'"

I wasn't really comparing it to ours (which is 34 I think) but Wigan for example have 39. Greenwood was wearing the 40 shirt last night but they shipped out "the rectum of Wigan". It would be interesting to know if any other SL club has a squad of less than 29.

I suppose since pretty much every other club has brought out the injury excuses, I guess we're due for ours.
