Slightly concerning that MC hasnt rubished the rumour (yet)? Appreciate he can't and wouldn't want to stop these in their tracks every time (and he would be non stop on here if he did) but from memory, doesnt he normally pipe up when big ones like these circulate?

The Warrington Guardian don't normally use internet rumours for news stories. They broke the Blake Austin Story a week or so before it was confirmed by the club, so presume they had some decent intel there. They don't normally peddle rumours, although had a cheeky story about Sandow a few weeks back.

It wouldn't surprise me if there had been contact from our side - whether it goes further than that would depend on whether your chairman thinks they would be able to sign Fifita to an extended contract, or risk losing him for nothing in 12 months?

Thanks for that. I've got to say I'd be surprised if Wire as a club would were deliberately releasing such info before any sort of decision was made, if indeed there is any substance to the rumour.

I'd rather lose him for nothing in 12 months than get money for him now.

Very difficult one IMO, Dave is one of the best in the league and would be devastated to see him leave.

However, if we lost him in the off season and got a transfer fee, then we could use the fee and freed up wages to attract a replacement, probably from Aus. Or we could lose him for free next year and not be able to afford a replacement of similar quality? Tough one, if the speculation is true.

In all honesty I don't think it's even worth talking about unless a respected journalist gives it legs.

Or just re-negotiate his contract to tie him down for the foreseeable future !!

Of course that is the preferred option, and let's hope that is why there is no news coming from the club while they do that.
Clearly we can't pay money we don't have but he's important enough to the team to make him our top earner in my opinion.

Moley (Who is about as credible as they come in the world of RL) says that he has spoke with big Dave and there is nothing in the rumours circulating about a move away from Wakefield.
