| I do remember that there was a poster on here, a Cas fan, who talked about how the players hated training under Smith, something to do with chatting to a players barber or something, and we all dismissed him as a troll. I do wonder if it became apparent he'd lost the dressing room and thought best thing to do was quit. He has no need to hang on.
As for Carter, he didn't ask for the job, he ended up with it, and the club is in a better state than before. Reduced rent, financially stable, looking at buying Belle Vue back. This is to do with the playing side, it seems.

Neil Kelly?Bit early for that Belly, Fishing season doesn't start for another month or so.
Go on, we've had your irrational bromance with Annekin, please tell exactly what NK could bring to an ailing SL team that need a change in fortunes?

| Quote: Manuel "Maybe we could do a deal with Batley or Dewsbury where they take some of our excess players as a contra deal to a coach.
No question, Scruton and Anderson do look like they would struggle to break wind and who would want them?
We have Gibson, Tansey, Lyne and Sio who are just average before you go any deeper.
A steady and experienced hand is now needed. What a shambles, the thing is, you say you couldn't write it but you can with Wakey.
We are saving on Smith's wages and he would not have been cheap.
Chris Chester is probably not in the best frame of mind after being sacked.
It probably will be Harrison, Kear or Morrison.
Can't wait for Friday.
Clearly, 3 homes games from the first 10 is not good for financial planning.'"
Harrison has said he is done with coaching for good so rule him out. Player agent only now.
Kear is happy with combining his role at Batley with his media stuff so that isn't going to happen.
Morrison would be my pick but Dewsbury will want compensation as last time so highly unlikely as we haven't got a pot to you know what in.
Others?
JD has just started a new job with the Dragons in Australia so won't come at this point.
Noble would probably be too expensive.
Chester quite possible but it it too soon after leaving Hull KR? The way it ended there has to have had some effect.
Rowley is tipped to be starting the Toronto job in November so a no go there
Cummins? Surely we wouldn't would we???
Bobby Goulding will apply, he applies for everything.
FWIW i've a feeling we will get Dickens until the end of the season.

| Players being bullied in training, time some of the players got a grip, and got a bit of reality into their lives.
Its players not putting the effort in, and been allowed to get away with it for so long that has got us into mess.
We needed a strong coach, got one, and now look where we are
Whichever type of coach we have, we will not win.

| Its just another sad episode in the Trinity story. I have said it on many an occasion its one step forward 2 steps back , will the club ever provide the Wakey public with a sound footing and a club to be proud of.
Untill tomorrow its difficult to come to any conclusion but I have said many a time I do not like M C s manner and management style .
For all those in the know just what are the clubs finances like now compared to 2 years ago, does M C now draw a wage and does the debts paid off include his loan against his house.
You can not run a R L club like any other business and although M C s against speculation the marketing at the club remains dire.
He must however be congratulated regarding B V and his appointment of B S in the first place.
I can not think M C will be easy to work with his chop this and that attitude is something accountants always adopt and don't always look or able to imagine the bigger picture.
M C will almost certainly want his money out before hes would even look at moving on and that's what makes his £1 statement stupid and at the time ill advised.
Passion for the Trinity gets tested sometimes to the absolute limit Its just another example of our club or should I say M Cs club failing the supporters. Its a difficult situation and one that may prove almost impossible to put right. I do however expect the usuall names to be linked with the coaching position its just a matter of getting it cock on.
Im almost tempted to say who cares but in truth I DO.

| 'Insert moderately experienced coach's name here with sentimental relevance to the club'- then sit back and watch us be in the same/worse position later in the year while people call for his head, then repeat...

Carter ended up with it as he and Bretherton saw it as a way of being able to get some of the money back they had invested, he said as much on here. He could of written it off and walked away but wanted some of his pension pot back which is fair enough. He has to be able to take the flak though when the penny pinching bites him on the backside.

That would be worry, quite a few quoted Smith being here as a reason for signing. I hope it doesn't unsettle a few of the players and have the agents of those out of contract next year pushing some elsewhere because of the perceived unrest.

| At 61 years old the jobs proved to be too tough for Brian Smith!
I've no doubt that he thought he was going to come here and turn us around making himself an instant legend in the same way he was at Hull FC and to a lesser extent at Bradford.
One last opportunity to stroke the old ego!
The reality is the jobs too tough and will take too long for Brian Smith to see it out and I think he's realised that.
So thanks for being the new broom at the end of last season and good luck with your retirement in the warmer climes of Australia.
As for us, the next decision is massive.

| Willie Poching, disappointed he didn't get the gig at HKR applies for Wakey job. Could it happen, do we want it to happen. I suspect most coaches would not touch us with a barge pole, a rather long one at that.

| As said Bad Bad News! Best coach Trinity have had for years and the players haven't performed consistently and MC has not backed the coach with sufficient finances to get a quality half back. Why let Godinet go? He was interviewed a few weeks ago and Trin were compared to Cas from a few years ago.
BS response was that Powell was given significant financial support and that is needed top down with a suggestion back then that it wasn't at Trin.....

| You're right Avenger, the next decision is certainly massive, but, I reckon that even if we brought Wayne Bennett in that even he couldn't drag us out of this hole. as James Webster said " this season is over, let's plan for the middle 8's" Again.

| my prediction would be that we carry on with the same philosophy we have always had with the present board.
1. Do not appoint a head coach keep SD in the job and thus save money.
2. Read the riot act to the players again and invite those who want to walk away to go and save more money.
3. Arrive at the playoffs again and panic.

The same Willie Poching that had the job temporarily at HKR and was moved to one side to enable James Webster to take over, why do you think HKR didn't give him the job?

| Think some of our players have had to much carrot and not enough stick, Neil Kelly has been working in RU, as RU is now so far in advance of RL on every level you would think that he will have added to his skill set. Most importantly I don`t think he will be accept the poor standards set by some of our players, when little Richie Myler bashed his way through soft lad Anderson and Molloy on Sunday you imagine that a man like Neil Kelly would have given it to them straight. We have no leaders on the field so we need a tough, no nonsense old fashioned, hard ba####d of it.
