He never got the ball grounded passed the try line due to Kirmond getting underneath him which means he did not score a try.

On last night performance Wakefield WILL be the super league whipping boys this year'"

On Salford's performance 4 days previous Wakefield Trinity Wildcats are a top 8 side. icon_wink.gif

It's a long season and if Cas get a string of injuries they'll down there in the bottom 3 in the mix aswell!

Fairer comment, on last night's performance I'd agree - but I doubt they will play like that for the next 25 matches.

Whilst we aren't 100% sure of safety, comments like your first one tend to blow up in the face of the purpetraitor - let's make sure our team have significant breathing room before we can watch the relegation battle with a cigar and a glass of port in front of a log fire with the dog asleep by the side of it icon_thumb.gif

Last night was as dis-jointed a performance as I can remember in a while. There are obvious reasons for that but my worry is we looked so far off it is going to take quite a while to 'gel'.

Last night was a huge anti-climax for me following our second half performance against Salford, as I am sure it was for all Trinity fans. With a four day turn around with players that look unfit due to poor preseason preparations, this was the performance to expect after a extremely physical first game. I honestly thought Scott Anderson made a good account of himself, putting in great shifts and already showing better signs than Justin THE LIABILITY Poore did last year. The ref was atrocious for both sides yesterday, as I could not even understand what our first penalty against Luke Gale was for. I am not even going to start with some of the decisions against us. I am not Agars biggest fan, but this team just needs a bit more time for players to not only get up to fitness as Matt Ryan looks likes he is smuggling a wok, but the new half back partnership needs time to coagulate, which does look very promising.

Don't mean to be pedantic but it wasn't actually Hicks who gave the Purtell try, he quite rightly wasn't sure so handed it to the Video Ref. We cant blame Hicks for that decision.

TBH I can't even see Salford making the 8 this year don't forget they are a team strung together pretty much in the off season. Going to take time for them to gel also you LOST that game icon_wink.gif
Cas have the most depth to the squad we have had in years and when Webster is back to partner the Beast we have a centre and wing combo the will scare every team in the league and will score a lot of tries.
Rangi has gone which IMO is a good thing, he was fantastic for us but we relied to heavily on him and we were seen as a 1 man band that will not be the case this year we will be a lot more structured.
We have recruited very well, you on the other hand have had a lot of off field troubles lost the bulk of your squad your NEVER going to make the 8 icon_lol.gif

You complete and utter bum hole. Bren said we were refereed out of the game, obviously stating that the VIDEO REF gave Purtell the try. Are they still performing lobotomies in Cas?

Sammut should not have played imo. Simply not had enough time with his team mates to have a chance of it working, plus it disrupted the rest of the team having to shift players to fit him in 20 mins into the game.

Defence does seem better but ball handling and kicking was very poor.

One other aspect which frustrates me generally and not just last night is our abject failure to support the ball carrier. I am pretty sure most other teams in the league would have had 2 or 3 players supporting smith when he made that break and even if we only had 1 it would have been a try under the sticks

You would have to hope Wakefield don’t play anywhere near as bad again this season, because last night was awful. Bradford didnt need to do anything special to score any of their tries last night, they were all gifted by countless unforced errors and stupid penalties. The decision to play include Sammut was a poor one, I thought Sykes and Godinet played well enough against us on Sunday (in the second half) to warrant another bash against Bradford. By bringing Sammut into the halves, you have two new half-backs with little training under their belts and it showed. Anywhere in and around the Bradford 10 and you looked clueless, apart from the obvious crash ball by Ali.

Completely different team from the one I watched in the second 40 at Salford and hopefully it was just a bad day at the office.
