Yes this was my first post but I was under the impression this was a forum. I have been a season ticket holder, shareholder and supporter since 1970. The reason I felt the need to post was because I was fed up of reading self righteous members who feel they know best and don't take criticism of their views too well.

I suppose if you read the usual suspects tonight's defeat is down to either, Fox, Cockayne, washbrook or all three depending on their personal dislikes. We are in trouble but I still feel some of you are responsible for making the situation worse and forcing the chairman's hand to make what I felt was an ill conceived and far too detailed statement just to placate some of you. If you look at the other clubs forum they have supporters making criticisms but no club felt the need to make a statement.

Maybe the players ought to set up like a swear box from match days to contribute towards the shortfall.

For every handling error, or penalty conceded, they should donate something towards the debt (ie £50 or £100 toward the mistake).

After tonight this would soon be made up.

Somebody had earlier posted that some of the players had refused a pay cut.

If this is true, after tonight, it would be interesting to know which ones.

Maybe any management with any backbone would identify this and not pick them

We lost tonight because Huddersfield have a better team. Simple as. No blaming players for mistakes, it was a better team beating a worse team.

We've been fed lies and mistruths for years from the top table at Belle Vue, why hide the fact that investment is needed when it was hardly a secret, thanks to the number of CCJ's and Winding Up Orders, that it was fairly obviously the case.

Would we lose players to other clubs without the statement? Of course we would! Nothing has changed. We're a selling club. We have been for years.

I have no idea if the new man will be a success, history says probably not, but if he's honest, that's all we can ask. Don't hype up a lottery as a massive announcement, don't claim to be a 'life long fan' when you're nothing of the sort. Just do the best you can to not run the club into the ground, and the right minded people will be fair.

quite simply the best post ive read on the subject, left here 2 years ago because of the rose tinted ag and supporters trust threads, i resoect both but in honesty both have got us nowhere, im not happy about this at all me and wtw need an appointment at relate at present, but think some with dreams of titles, flash new grounds, etc etc need a meeting with reality a lot sooner

But it’s not just about ticking boxes is it?

Now if you’d referred to the stands I would agree, definitely a waste of money presumably to pamper to the RFL.

However, increasing attendances isn’t a box ticking exercise, the general consensus is a club requires in the region of 10k supporters to be viable in SL, unless of course you have a wealthy backer.

if I was a Ken Davy then maybe yes.

you can't blame all this on the supporters on this forum, bet we don't even cover half the paying public its no difference to pub talk

actually i blame the "pub talk", in a way, theres too many wakefield, "followers" and not enough that go to games, wish i knew the answer, but in honesty i dont, in short we are a small club without a premiership footy club or a suger daddy and in todays sporting climate that means we win fk all and go bankrupt every few years!!!

All SL clubs need big investment as the paying game does not pay the bills, that is a sad indictment of our game.
Numerous clubs have struggled just in the recent past.
Sky TV have lamented all night about Ken Davys millions spent on achieving tonight's LL success which will be largely forgotten about by the start of next season if they don't go on to bag the grand final too.
As for the speech, it was made as quickly as we could have hoped and its given us some answers and something to get behind. Another poster has suggested it was too much, personally I don't think it was half as insightful as it should have been but that's just me.
Following the release from AG a few weeks back re cash flow but everything's fine, I'd like to here his views on what he's overseen lately and weather or not he feels he's let the supporters down as much as the (ex?) CEO has, or weather he feels equally as let down as us.
As for investment if I had squill ions in the bank (like Al has) I would love to, if I had plenty in the bank but I couldn't afford to lose it; it'd be highly unlikely.
One thing is for sure what money we have had hadn't been used half as wisely as it should have been, but the discounted STs haven't helped (something I've been banging on about for ages).
It's a tough call and a tough job, but we need tough people making the tough decisions not too jokers having a who's got the biggest twitter following competition, back slapping their way through countless CCJs and cash flow problems.
We also need supporters to back the efforts of the club in yet more tough times, not walk away because they don't agree or feel let down (again!!)

It is, you made a comment i said i did not agree, at what point does that make it not a forum icon_rolleyes.gif

Who did that then, maybe MC did what he thinks best, if you think he did it because of pressure from this board then you are treating him like a fool.

call me gullible but I read that statement from Carter as true and genuine attempt to correct the clubs direction before its too late and I fear more actions will be fore coming.

not sure the club understands how to treat the paying public. I'd rather them be honest

fwiw I think the statement was well worded and was decide to stop panic by the fans and has encouraged fans to stick with it and get behind the Club which we all support and hope to do so for many a day
