By the way anyone notice that Jim's wife Sarah has been appointed as official choreographer for the World Cup.'"
Yes, I saw that too. Good job. Congratulations to her.

| I'm not sure I understand the sudden vitriol towards JE; what exactly is he perceived to have done that has so upset people? I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, but the sponsors seem to like him and he can do a decent turn with a microphone in his face, which isn't as straightforward as it seems. Am I missing something that he's done to justify the sudden calls for his head?
As for the personal attacks on his wife - that's beyond the pale.

| Well that was a bit of a strange thread to read from page one to the end. Glover going, then a new guy in, then he's staying with Mr Carter being appointed to the role of Chairman. Far too much excitement for one day lol.
Good luck Michael.
I've said before that I don't envy anyone trying to run a a club like ours. We've had many intelligent good businessmen in charge over the years that have all tried but all run into similar problems. Unless we have a guy in charge who's made of money and prepared to lose at least a few hundred grand every year. Or get 10K+ through the gates every game it will always be a juggling act between trying to appease the fans and balancing the books.

What you think he's getting constantly verbally attacked because he signed Mellars. I don't think at the time too many people were moaning about his signing were they, because he looked a good player at Crusaders. Some signings work out, others don't, that happens even with the best coaches in the world.

| Possibly not the fact that he signed Vince but the reported/rumoured contract he is on and for 3 years.

| The personal attacks are pretty horrible to read, have any of them been made in person to the people
being attacked?
I doubt it.

Which in reality, no-one on here has the first clue about.
It was widely reported at the time that the RFL were underwriting the ongoing contracts of the overseas players, as the RFL were culpable in creating the Crusaders mess.
Essentially, signing a player fro Cru was like getting of free player...certainly less than "market value".

| Think the new man at the top should dip his hand in his pocket and fund the signing of a superstar to stamp his authority on the club......Billy Slater was spotted locally recently so I was told....

Nah... more likely to be Richard Agar, as in "We are not signing Richard Agar", or words to that effect.
I don't know. I don't root through the Elstons' bins to see what the had for breakfast, I don't follow them round all day with a spycam to see what they do in their respective jobs. I'll guess the new CEO will have a pretty fair idea of the latter, and will judge them accordingly.

What new CEO is this? I don't think the new board will ditch James - they may tweak his role to suit his skills - and he is exceptional is some areas - but I don't see them moving him on.

Sorry - meant chairman, not CEO.

Ah - I thought you were jumping the gun!
The new guy is not that new - he has been involved for 18 months - so I guess he'll already have his ideas of some of the changes he would like to see.
I'm encouraged by the comments from the people I have spoken to over the past 36 hours!
