| Towards the end of his reign Kear coached dull rugby, it was dire to watch, at least under Agar we look more creative!

| Agar's put together this team and he has to take responsibility for their poor performances. The 7 match unbeaten run masked some serious deficiencies for us last year, this year they've been obvious for all to see. Agar has to go for me, too many favourites and not making good enough choices, tactically, in terms of selection and in recruitment.
P.s he got rid of the players who were key to the 7 match unbeaten run!

Fluke. As this saeason and most of the previous one amply demonstrates

Tuson looks a promising signing but I'll wait and see how he performs in an average side before comparing him with Mariano. Put Frankie in that Wigan side and he would be devestating.'"
EXACTLY my thoughts. Tuson looks useful but he does not look the biggest forward on the pitch and stature vs the opposition is a problem fo me. He is promising but how will he perform in a much lesser side? We know, or at least I think, Mariano was a very good player with size, power and pace...but a face that doesn't fit for King Richard, so we lose a great find to a local rival. We'll see what Tuson does. I just hope we don't live to regret losing Frankie

Plenty on here would though, and that's the difficulty of being a SL coach - you are more often than not damned if you do, and damned if you don't.
Personally, I'd be happy to sit Timmy down for the last two games of the season and put Goulding and Kay at 6 and 7; lets have a proper look at them and see what they can do - it worked for Tomkins, Lineham, Sutcliffe, Escare, Swift etc etc, it might just work for us.'"
Good call. No harm at all, especially as Tim Smith hasn't looked great to me fo the last couple of games

| Id agree with that - Goulding and Kay at 6-7 would be interesting to see and a chance to see if we have a half option there for 2014 who can make the grade.
My main bug this season has been Agar has seriously disturbed the stability of the squad and altered 2/3 players roles to accommodate a player who is not a 6 at 6. This has been shocking man management from agar. I'm not anti Agar either. He has a good year last year. I still think he can be the coach for us to play well under but for gods sake give players their respective roles and if there is an injury replace them with a player next best capable from academy or whatever. The top teams don't move 2/3 players out of their routine roles to accommodate a forward at 6.
And can we stop this 7 wins stuff. That was last year, it was applauded then and rightly so.
But equally we can string together a handful of losses here and there that are equally concerning.

| Quote: Stanley Cat "Last year we did not earn the 8th place it was ours by default. A year on and some of the posters on here are talking about what Agar has achieved. Achieved !!! he has taken a retrograde step and we are now in a worse position than last year. Last year he had the excuse that the team he was fielding was not of his choice! well fast forward to 2013 and he did make choices and most of his choices have not done well at all. So what's to be done? well why not do what we always do and say well "next year we will be better". How will it be better with no signings and the current squad have been playing together for nearly 24 months with no improvement, not as individuals, but as a team. We want men of iron not men of straw.'"
Well said Stanley Cat. I'm sick of Agar and his feeble post match analysis and I'm sick of reading drivel from his apologists. He has achieved sweet FA at Hull or at Wakefield. More important is how we play. We cannot pass in a fluid manner. Our wide defence is feeble. Our wings and full back and shaky under a high ball. Our full back tackles like Shirley Temple. Agar cannot use a bench effectively, a major weapon for a modern coach. We have no concept of ball security. We can barely get though a set of 6 without an error and frequently we look utterly clueless about what to do on the 6th tackle. These are RL basics and we have looked clueless apart from the fabled 7 match run....7 matches where we looked like a side out of about 60...not a good strike rate. Kear was boring some say? At least he understood the fact that you need ball security and field position before you start chucking the ball around. He just often didn't have the players to get it for him, hence the dull Rugby from some of his teams. When he had the playes, look how good we were then! 2009; look at that squad and where they are now and we were an attractive and solid side, as opposed to this team, who look decentish on paper but play like every play has to be scored from. You can call it exciting if you like. I call it bloody idiotic and they NEVER LEARN. Agar has singularly failed to see it fo about 18 months; now he acknowledges it but can't change it. If he gets 2 more years I despair

| A little harsh on mathers Charlie. He has been like a rock at the back rarely drops one and makes difficult takes under pressure. He has also shown improvement in putting himself in for try saving tackles too. Think he has been one of this seasons most consistent players. Early season granted he did shirk a few tackles but has for the majority played well.
The wings/outside backs and 6 have been the issue and they are not good enough in areas of def and high balls. I'm not sure it can be coached into them either. As my post says above though Agar has been guilty of upsetting the team structure too much this year and not sticking to a structure and getting players to perform properly the role he wants. He should take flak for that but I also think he can turn it around next year if he packs in the messing about with players 2/3 moving out of their roles to fit one position.
You do seem to hold a hatred for Agar. He hasn't been bad for wakefield but i don't think he should get an extension until we see how we start next season. It'll be make or break for Agar next year after a good then indifferent if slightly underwhelming second season.

| I wasnt a fan of Richie last season I was gutted when we signed him for another 2 years, this year he has been playing well par a few performances. He has been improving as Trojan has stated actually attempting to make tackles.

Yes. We create tries for the opposition like very few Wakefield sides I have ever watched

Attempt being the operative word. My heart is in my mouth every high ball that goes up. He struggles to catch an unchallenged kick. He often doesn't even get near a challenged one. The try that Fox fluffed the tackle v Bradford against Foster, the back play was the result of a Mathers no show at a bomb; I know there have been a few others, I've seen them. He has made one tackle 1 on 1 I can recall that made a difference vs Widnes. And he got lucky the player lost the ball in the act of scoring. It was a weak tackle that a strong full back would have executed better. He ambles across and back for kicks in defence in such a casual way you want to grab him and say for F sakes show some urgency! Another waste of space fo me and would be out the door with Fox in a breath. We have a number of players who just keep repeating the same errors, quite a few. I would get ruthless to be honest. They don't show much sign of changing their ways

I don't hate Agar. I'm sure he's a nice bloke. In fact he seems to be. I wish he was our man. I really do. I take no pleasure at all in citicising him or anyone else in the side. It takes guts to cos that line and be an RL player and I realise that. But at the end of the day, we all want Wakefield Trinity, one day, back where we who love them all feel they belong, ...at the top of the tree. That is not easy to get. In the mean time I want to see players and coaches who look like they know what they are doing and learn fom their errors. I see no hope of any progress with things as they are. It is Goundhog Day every match...come on eveybody, you MUST have seen it. Awful, over and over again, with a few flashes of entertaining Rugby to give you the frustrating hope we might be getting somewhere.
