This club will not survive on £100-£125 season tickets and cheap merchandise.
If you want it you've got to be prepared to support it (supporter, you see?) with your money.
One of the reason big clubs are big clubs, is because they have (usually) more people spending more money and the club using that money wisely, on players or schemes to generate more cash.
Its so basic, but I'm amazed how many people don't get it.
We need every penny in order to catch up all the wasted years, the club are doing their bit AG has done more than his bit, now in true Delia mode "Come on where are you, lets be having you!?!?!?!??!".
Davide's thread shows how much the club are doing to get this right.'"
I agree, but my point was a lot of people will keep their money in their wallets until they really have to part with it unless to give them a good reason not to. Now don't get me wrong the ticket is great value and for the record I got ours whilst passing the shop last week as it was more convenient to do so but if I hadn't been passing i'd have waited a bit too. This year their is no difference getting your ticket on the 31st october as there was the 31st august, so people will wait until the later date, its human nature to do so. If the club want the money earlier then there has to be an incentive to do so or it just won't happen. I don't doubt come this time next month the shop will be rammed full of people getting them before the deadline and the club will hit the 4000 target. But the late rush was always going to happen this time round as the deal is set up that way.
The shirt voucher worked as people paid their ticket money earlier and had extra incentive to get a shirt and not waste the discount. It also increased the gap between paying for the tickets and paying for a shirt or two. Now most people will pay for their ticket at the end of october and maybe not have enough funds available to get the new shirt just a few weeks later, thus meaning a delay in getting the money into the club again. They may get it eventually but if the club wants the money earlier then, again, they need to make it worthwhile the supporters spending the cash earlier than they might do otherwise.

Absolutely right - human behaviour is influenced by incentives; as it stands, there is no incentive to buy before the end of October or a disincentive not to, so very few will.
A useful addition might be an incentive + scarcity value; for example, the first 4000 ST's sold are numbered; those numbers are drawn from a hat at every home game and the winner receives a special prize - doesn't matter what it is, sponsors can be tapped up for spot prizes as the season progresses; who wouldn't like to be in the 4000 club!

The ticket is the incentive, end of.
Anyone wanting more and wanting the best for the club is in limbo and living in a different reality to me.
I take your point about the incentive, but its a catch twenty two.
The deal is too good, to be honest, but when you give such a deal for such a period of time people forget and as you and others have pointed out, human nature is to push it to the max.
I said prior to the deal being announced, the ideal would have been to introduce an incentivised sliding scale model, month one x price, month two y price and so on and so on.
This takes into the equation human nature being what it is and really rewarding those early birds.
At month one our figures would have been higher than they were and if the deal is a good one people will find away to get their ticket ASAP os be happy with a lightly less good deal when they can if money is tight.
For me this should all be in place well before the end of the season (i appreciate the club has got this one out quickly) to give people time to adjust their finances to get themselves the best possible deal.

I like this idea and it is something that could be set up at little or no cost to the club but have a large impact. Maybe at this point with a month to go it is a case of having a draw every 500 sold up to 4000. Obviously the earlier you get your ticket, the more draws you will be in and the better your chance of winning.

| I think + 1500 is a good figure a few weeks after our season has ended. 4000+ should be achievable.
Would probably speed up sales if further incentives were put in place however the pricing structure is already a bargain in the value for money stakes.

You say the deal is too good and you're right, it is a bargain to be able to watch top division sport at that price. But remember the tickets have gone up 25% in price from last year and the buy early incentive removed so the deal isn't actually as good as last year, though this was ridiculously good value and probably unsustainable. The hardcore will buy a season ticket and a shirt whatever the price but some of the others may not necessarily do so or indeed be able to afford to do so. Its a fine balancing act for the club to now to get the deal right to persuade those who got a season ticket for £100 and a tenner off a shirt last year to pay the extra this time round and pay for it earlier than they have to without that added incentive. The run to the play offs will have helped enormously but that also involved more away travel and an extra game at Leeds, all extra expenditure. I think the fans will buy them eventually, but I can't blame them for waiting until it suits them best as there is no reason for them not to. Just the fact the club can plan better with early purchases will not make any difference to that i'm afraid.

Unfortunately it's a bit late now - the whole scheme has to be set up in advance, with critical targets outlined and incentives made clear; if anything is bolted on at the halfway point, it confuses the offer and potentially, disadvantages those early adopters who did buy right at the beginning.
I wish I knew what the actual aims were from the clubs perspective - is it about getting as much cash in the bank as early as possible? Is it about achieving a certain number? Are some walk-ups a good thing as they pay more? Do jr ST's bring full price spectators with them? etc etc.
I expect supporters could make some useful suggestions on how to achieve the objectives, but you have to know what they are to have a focussed discussion.

Its never enough though is it, everybody wants more and getting a fantastic deal is not enough.

So if this isn't met or the longer till it is met then potential funds for players could be delayed?
Thats an incentive if i've seen one.
Quote: "“If those people that came regularly last year that weren’t members can sign up for 2013, plus those who were members can renew, then we will smash the 4,000 target and it will allow us to push on knowing what budget we are working with. At the moment we can’t plan with complete confidence because we don’t know what money we’re going to have in through Membership sales and we’re not prepared to spend money we don’t have.'"
Come on guys...

| Hope they get the target by end of month, but means there must be a massive rush to buy over the next 3 weeks.
