| Well he wants to stay now. rlhttp://www.sportinglife.com/rugbyleague/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME
My opinion is thanks for everything John but its time for a change. And take Broadbent & Sanctuary with you. Georgallis would be ideal, served a good apprenticeship, has been coaching first grade so is up to speed with modern coaching techniques in the best league in the world, is keen to come back to this country and has been at the club before. Put a young british assistant alongside him and get a top quality, proven rugby league conditoner to work with all age groups in the club.

| If we are going to replace Kear we should do it sooner rather than later, so the new coach can get the team HE wants for next season

Thats the name I was going to mention for the reason you've put. Apparently him and his players are pretty peeved he never even got a chance to apply for the vacant job at Penrith. Love to see him here, I would expect he would be in our price range.

| A possible problem with Georgalis, or a.n.other Aussie coach; they don't know the UK-based players. He may be able to uncover a couple of pearls from over there, but If we are looking to get a largely British squad who will do the recruitment?

You have to give him credit he certainly has a big set of balls.
He is starting to sound exactly like Noble when everyone knew it was time for him to go at Wigan. Using the media to try to manipulate his way back in.
Can't blame him really as I anticipate leaving Wakefield would mean the end of his top flight career.
In my opinion and what I hear from the players it would be near impossible for him to stay, but I guess with the pressure of the franchise decision now lifted opinions may change also.

| What ever is happening with Kear,it needs resolving urgently.
Personally, thanks for your efforts JK,but bye bye.
We need to start looking at recruitment for next season and beyond asap and this would be best done having resolved the head coach situation.

i think that this is key too. we're already way behind the others in terms of recruitment and will be picking over the slops before long. in depth knowledge of the british game is required, but somebody that could bring in three willie poching type imports would be welcome!

Which is where the british-based assistant will be so important.

I think we lack a director of rugby type role. Someone to oversee and co-ordinate all on-field aspects of the club. In charge of recruitment and player development in tandem with the respective coaches and conditioner. Setting out targets for individual players and seeking recruits in line with the head coach's requirements. Also dealing with players' agents. The coaches can then concentrate on coaching.

this has been john kear's downfall imo. he's tried to do the above, as well as his own job. the fallout that he hasn't been able to do either job as well as he could do either one if that's all he had to do.

| Just to put the other point of view I'd like Kear to have a go with good money and a good backroom set up behind him.
I have no love for our current conditioning programme so I think I'd spend some money there, and I'd go back throught he coaching programmes through the club and plug the gaps taht were left when the likes of Johnny T got the push.
We need skills training at young levels if we want to bring on our young players. Although he sets the strategy, it's too late if young players are getting to first team and they are looking to Kear to teach them how to pass and tackle.
BUT, if he is to go, I agree with the posters who say it should be done now. Want new coach in ahead of the off season.
