Correction the management of the club has been inept. Lets see what someone with some proper nous can do before condemning the club as a whole

On thread drift:
[quote="tb":24qn1m99]Tough. Conversations develop. It's their nature.[/quote:24qn1m99]
Little Pepe went to nursery school one day wearing his Widnes hat. His teacher asked him why he was a Widnes fan. He said, “Because my parents are.” His teacher said, “That’s not good. What would you do if your parents were drug dealers and hookers?” He replied, “Well then I would be a Warrington fan.”
[i:24qn1m99]There's a Wooly over there, baggy kecks and feathered hair
with a 3 star jumper half way up his back, that’s a fecking Wooly back![/i:24qn1m99]

Who says that both clubs will not have a licence in 2012?
Whilst Wakey are now favourites for the axe, there are other clubs who could find themselves in peril. I'm not too sure there was any real need for this awful snipe at the fans of a club in this position. It also smack of desperation. I don’t know why, because the RFL have insisted that a Championship club will be promoted and the bids are now in.
We are not competing with Wakefield , we are competing with Halifax and Barrow. Wakey are competing with other SL clubs. So, this a totally stupid post and completely uncalled for.

That scenario does worry me greatly.

| Quote: "As for those people saying that the poor small companies who will lose out, and then the club continues as if nothing had changed.... think about this...
If small company 'chooses' to give credit terms instead of payment up front, that is their choice whether to do that deal. They can choose to build in any risk involvement into the price. They can choose not to do future transactions if they feel they are having difficulty getting payment.
If they feel the club may be in difficulties, they can choose to put the club on stop until payment is received.
If the club after admin want to re-engage the supplier, they can pretty much expect a higher price which would recoup any previous losses. New club will not get the same terms as old club if there has been a loss.
With all business transactions with credit, there is the element of risk. You get some winners, some losers, some prepare for that with increased prices for the risk, some don't. With all business, there is the element of choice (no monopolies) so small companies cannot put ALL the blame at a club if they choose administration route.'"
You are correct of course however how it normally works is the company with bad credit get a supplier and pay cash for a number of transactions, then they say to the company ' you can see that we pay can we have a little bit of credit however if you can't do that we will find someone who will' then the company are between a rock and a hard place - some will take the risk in order to try to keep their own business ticking over - so yeah you can say that they shoulder some of the blame.
However lets put a different slant on this and i am putting this to everyone how will you feel if your son/daughter/mum/dad/etc etc etc comes home from their job and says they have been laid off because their company is one that is owed money and the owner is either closing the business or having to cut the work force.
This is a problem with any business going into administration not just wakefield so I think what the posters mean when they say think of the other business, think of the wider picture not just the business owner think of the cleaner, the driver, the shop assistant, the cook, the list goes on lets face it until it becomes apparent who money is owed to any of the people reading this could find themselves out of a job.
This is not having a go at Wakefield this is just unfortunately how business runs. Good luck for the future and i hope that whoever takes over does it for all the right reasons and has rugby in their hearts and business guile in their heads

| However they do have to pass a fit and proper test by the rfl to run a club, surely if this was one of their demands they'd be shot down in flames and told to come back when they're serious??

Its happened to me, yes i was peeved but i dusted myself down and got on with things. Unfortunately its the way of the world these days, has been for about the past 3 years and will continue to be until we get out of the recession. For me things are still going to get worse before they get better.

The difference is (sigh)
London went bust a few years ago, Crusaders went bust, just last year, are either of these club unlikely to receive a licence for 2012?

| Our main chance of avoiding the RFL chopping block is a megabucks investor, we have one, no disrespect to any other interested parties.
If we really shake it up the RFLs lack of moral fibre will be tested, and that has got be a real opportunity for us.

| Quote: SmokeyTA "In pre-packs where the buyer is the same in all but name to those who put the company in to administration i would agree with you. However when a company is sold to new owners after administration, it is simply a more pragmatic approach.
The options are the company gets liquidated and creditors get a pittance, the business is closed everyone involved loses their jobs or the company goes into administration, the creditors get a pittance but the business stays open and people keep their jobs and hopefully the business grows. I know which I would prefer,
Just because a business goes into administration doesnt mean there isnt a call for the product or the underlying fundementals dont have the potential to grow a successful business.
In this example, good luck to Wakefield. IMO it is a frustration that an area that so obviously has the potential to be a RL asset has for so long been an also ran, with internal division and infighting restricting the realistion of that potential, hopefully a clean slate will see this Wakefield move forward from strength to strength.
I also think people are being a little presupmtious that this will be the nadir for Wakefield in a similar way it has been for Widnes, there is nothing set in stone here, and it is probably 50-50 at the moment whether this is the beginning of a new dawn or the beginning of the end. Lets hope for the latter.
One note of caution, When Leeds Utd went in to administration, the largest creditor ended up being a mysterious off-shore company which insisted the former owners regained control, and paid rent to a mysterious trust who owned the stadium, lets hope there is no similarities here.'"
Pre packs seldom actually work - the problem with them is the same people who got them into trouble are the very people who are going to run the new company? In this case Ted and Denise!!!
Most creditors have become very wary of pre-packs and as a result the promised holy grail simply fails to materialise - obtaining credit is difficult so cash flow gets squeezed as the owners are usually overtrading.
Wakey have little/no chance of getting a franchise - so in the short term they would be better dropping down a division with a view to doing a Widnes and rebuilding for the round of franchises in 4 years time

Ok ill give u that they will get licences,But you still was saying it was wrong and hoping they maybe wouldent to save yourselfs,Cas was saying the same.Anyhow no bad feeling from me the rfl shouldent have double standards, yes if they let quins and crusaders get away with it why not you else where is the fairness in that. All im saying is they never let us get away with nothing so we got it in the neck again,Seems they just seem to pick who they want,Very strange system, good luck with finding a backer we know all to well what it feels like but its worked for us and it can for u !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
