| Quote: bren2k "So far this season, every time the opportunity has presented itself, we've offloaded an M&S quality player and replaced from Lidl; that suggests to me either serious financial problems at the club right now, or a wilful attempt to reduce outgoings in preparation for bad times ahead.
I think it probably IS time for Kear to go, but given the above, I expect a bargain basement replacement like Beans or Harrison, which will only compound our problems. Hard to feel optimistic about our club at present.'"
No one would deny that we're not the most cash-rich club in the league, and we have to try to maximise our assets. However, you have to consider the other issues here.
Most contracts are sorted before the season kicks off - sometimes, like Hodgson to Wire, in the middle of the season before. If you try to replace key players mid-season, who are you likely to get? Not the kind of players you'd hope to get, for sure, unless you can pay a fee, and the players themselves ask to be released. All unlikely, given our situation.
Having little money is not necessarily a crisis, if you spend what you have carefully. We may be using the money we have to try and promote things that will secure the long-term future of the club. That has to be worth it, even if life in the short-term looks as grim as it does now.
One thing's nailed on - if supporters turn their backs on the club and the team at a time like this, then the "end of the world" scenario will follow as sure as night follows day. No time for faint hearts - either the club, the team, and the fans can tough it out and show a bit of metal, or the doom-mongers will have created a self-fulfilling prophecy. In my opinion.

| There are obviously divided opinions on whether we should part company with JK, but based on the stories that he has had an interview with Catalans and is possibly to sign a 3 year contract as early as this week, it appears that JK may be the one who is looking to get out.
To me this clearly has to have a negative effect on the players, even if he had not lost the dressing room before the story of his potential move to Catalans.
There are many fans on here who would and have said about players, if they don't want to be here then get rid. Well if JK has been in talks with Catalans, to me he has shown his heart is not in it anymore, and that coupled with the poor brand of rugby and baffling team selections should spell the end of his tenure (However, I accept that we probably could not afford to let him go, if he wasn't earmarked for the Catalan job).

Ok then, it was a question not a statement.
But, if Kear is going, does he know something we dont about the Stadium??

I see what you mean. Not necessarily - the stadium doesn't guarantee us a franchise anyway.
He may just see it as a new challenge with a bigger playing budget and a definite 3 year license

the table doesn't lie, he must think the team that's well adrift at the bottom is a better bet than the one he's built up over the last couple of seasons, so has he,
1) twigged to the probability we won't get a franchise?
2) become disolusioned with our lack of off field development?
3) lost the dressing room, and feels unable to motivate the team?
4) become fed up of the stick from some supporters?
5) got a cheep deal on a job lot of piz buin?
I personally think the first is most likely, but it could be a mixture of many.
Either way, we have developed more under his tenure on the field than at any time in recent times, and it would appear to be a) a big slap in the face to the club and our future ambitions, b) a shame as he has added a level of proffesionalism we were sorely lacking.

Must not be a bad one though if he can get Salford in the play offs?

just had a look at your new site, and it looks very much like cas's website (maybee the same person designed them both), i dont know if these web sites are updated by the club or if it is done by an IT company but the cas one seems to be kept up to date so maybe its just teething problems, or on the other hand there might be no one in place to update your page.

It's a generic format done by the RFL or Super League. Crusaders is the same, if you look.
