| Cain would have found it difficult to oust out Jeffries/this season and Jeffries/Finch/Thurston next season...

| Quote: jonh "My only concern is that good quality British halves are as rare as rocking horse poop and Southernwood does look like he has the potential to become one of those.
I think he has a big future in the game and while to be fair I know little of Hyde he will have to be a very good player to be worth releasing Southernwood for.'"
Many have said he has the ability but his attitude stinks. If what MOPSEY says is true then Bradford will have their work cut out turning him into the player his potential deserves. Granted all HB's need a little bit of arrogance and cockiness but if he was refusing to follow team instructions and getting ahead of his station with what he thinks he's worth then he can have all the ability in the world he will find his path to the very top difficult.

Iagree with the fact that he would have struggled to oust jeffries. I can only hope and pray that next year he would have been struggeling to oust Thurston.

Trust them..... some people have to earn it, and the bod haven't.
Jk's worked miracles but there will be a time when the miracle we need wont arise, the efforts won't suffice
If I were to say the club consider it to be getting rid - what does that tell you?

Seems that way in a sense with the offer of a contract been revoked.

I'd agree, if a player thinks the grass is greener and that they're better off elsewhere, there is little point in keeping them, particularly if their contract is running out.
One thing that does puzzle me slightly though is Kear's statement that we have a lot of players in Southernwood's position.

BJ, Obst, Cooke, Wildie, Davey (who has played there for the reserves I think), Hyde (the new guy coming in from Bradford) can play there apparently.
I wouldn't say we were short of options.

| I think Cain has developed ideas above his staton, he's seen the departure of Danny Brough and when he was'nt immediately elevated to the 1st team it has increased his sense of being underappreciated.
He also has some misleading examples to look to when trying to fathom his stalled rise to 1st team selection, ie. his dad and uncle, who were promoted to 1st team at Cas at a very early age, that was then and this is now Cain!
I don't think Cain is physicaly strong enough for SL yet and I can use myself as an example, I was 17 yrs and 3 days old when I played stand off at 1st team level, I was 6'0" and 14st 7Ibs and I struggled with the physicality of long term expsure to that standard of footall. Cain is nowhere near being physicaly developed for the top tier of Rugby League, another example comes from the recent Wests v Parra game where Phil Gould comments on the stunted career of Benji Marshall. Injuries caused Mrshalls career to wain and those injuries were due to his body being ill prepared for the exposure to the NRL. six Knee and two shoulder reconstructions later, whilst his brilliance has never been in question, he is only now beginning to cope with the physicality of the game.
Cain will have to learn and learn quick that he needs to be part of a team and that he will have to wait until the coaches think he's ready hwether he agrees with them or not, if he can't do this then the next kid behind him will get there first.
