there are a couple of background rumours that spring to mind from the small rumour that the Ellis consortium are paying off the council loan to take full ownership of he stadium site..... to the completion of the close season works and the announcement of next stage plans (North Stand... west stand planning... south east corner sports bar and Trinity superstore)... I can't seen the announcement of a player (Smoothy??), warranting a Sky Sports live attendance.

but I wouldn't be too dissapointed if it was.

only downside is that it will be at 1.30 am my time and on a channel I cant get... si unless I need a pee in the night (which is not unlikely at my age)

Big news should be going on social channels live to help boost the numbers, intrigued as to what this could be, hope it is a signing as you would have thought it was massive being live on there. Don't feel like any stadium planning type announcement would be made on sky.

Smoothy for Antoni is a good shout as Smoothy is high profile and with the Hood injury might have pushed us to look at getting him over now. Really can't think what would be Sky news worthy and them giving us air time for much. The thing about Jenna Brookes doesn't make me feel it's ground related.

Could be a band for our opening fixture though.

You'd imagine it's Max or a left field marquee signing for next year. The Smoothy story broke a week ago, and while he's a top player he's not well known to SL fans so I can't imagine Sky wanting to devote an announcement to that. I'm also fairly certain it won't be anything to do with the ground - we all care but it's too niche for the average viewer.

Interestingly in the article about Smoothy it said we were signing him for 2026 but that could change with conversations ongoing.

I think it’s also telling that Atoni hasn’t played a competitive game yet so his salary may not count on the cap like Sivo?

Could be some wheeling and dealing and for Smoothy who’s a current NRL and recent grand final NRL player it could be big news.

you know... we had some foundations fitted in the north east corner, a couple of weeks ago... and we have a seemingly strong relationship with LED Studios... who specialise in sports stadia media etc so I reckon the HUGE news might relate to the size of the project which could include something like this... if so this and the other back room stuff is gold dust in growing our reputation as a grade A club
