| Wouldn't be disappointed if he ended up back in some capacity. I know memories fade but did't we decline after he left us with just Chester in charge?

Well love him or hate him Chester doing a great job of DOR at Leigh, the budget helps of course but we haven’t signed too many duds in the last 18 months

Haha what exactly is he doing? Best player is Lam’s son so I take it that is down to Chester. Give Chester the head coaches job, see how long that lasts.

What exactly does any DOR do, the signings we announced last November (hardaker, O Brien, Holmes, Hughes and about 10 others) didn’t happen overnight. Yes Lam is class but add Asiata, Amone, charnley, leutute etc someone pulled a team together that was beyond our expectations - AL of course had some influence but someone had to pull it together and that was Chester.
We didn’t offer him the coaches role did we, maybe he’s found his niche

It certainly feels that way, however I've just had a look - Kear left December 2017 and we finished 5th in 2018. Chris Brereton left November 2018 (judging by companies house anyway) and then it all went to pot.
I think CB was the "rugby" man so to speak who had the contacts - I could be wrong on that point though.

After 14 games into the 2019 season we sat in 4th place. The build up of major injuries to our key players then took its toll as we faded away badly. We then have loss of income from covid and reduced Sky money.
Not saying the loss of JK or CB have some creeping effect but lets not overlook other major factors.

Fair comment, we never recovered from those injuries.

It started around the time he suffered that hand injury Round 10 2019 when we were sitting in 4th place. Coincidently, as I mentioned earlier, the same time as few other key players. It was the loss of Brough and the fact he never really recovered as per Bill Tupou for another example.

IIRC we’d already started losing players to injury & then we played Wigan at home. Although we won, we lost about 5 players to injury that night. I remember watching thinking there goes the season!

Was that the game Dave went down the wing?
