| WP has done well so far it’s the players that need to be criticised.
Those consistently under performing need to be shown the door. I know that may be easier said than done but it’s an ageing squad and a large number are out of contract at the end of the season…..

| The OP and the following poster clearly have little understanding of human nature or the real world of team sports.
The reason Trinity along with a number of clubs lose games they should in theory win is simple, the players are not good enough.
Players like people are not born equal and in the case of RL the best don’t end up at Trinity. Our players don’t play deliberately badly. They play badly because they only have so many good games in them.
I admit there are other factors at work but our players just lack that core professionalism that exists at a club like Saints, bough even Saints can have a wobbly.
If WP gets the job or someone else does I hope the OP is a little less premature in his OTT reaction, it is one poor game that led to a narrow defeat!
It will take at least one or perhaps two seasons to undo the damage don in recent seasons before we can be confident of winning games like yesterday’s. We were getting there a few seasons back but now we are yet again some way off.
There is no magic wand, just hard work, good scouting and a willingness to get rid of players who no longer fit.
We may well even go backwards before going forward. The Hull game will be a good guide as to where we are. A good show in that game will show that the first vital ingredient has returned, resilience.
Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Next season may well be a watershed for this club if any of the rumours are to be believed ,and for the greater good of the club we certainly don’t want or need to be in the same table position this time next season .'"
McDermott is a poor coach stuck in the past IMO, he would ruin Trinity.
Poching has the job for me.

| I think one thing that yesterday's result proved, was that while things have improved a little, there is still a long way to go. Personally, for me, whilst I like Willie, I do think a stronger character needs to come in from the outside and put their stamp on things. Not just a decent coach, but someone who can change the culture and make them more professional in their training methods, otherwise I think we will be regularly having these issues. Sadly, there aren't many of these type of coaches, and they usually come at a cost

Let's give the players a break.
The end of a long hard season.
A generally narrow loss as per Cas game.
It's disappointing but overall it's been a good end to the season, especially if we beat Hull.
Let's not get carried away with one loss.

| Lets face it, we've played better rugby in the last six games (yesterday's 2nd half excepted) than we did in most if not all of the games before that.
Standouts for me were beating wire and dirty leeds at home and HKR away.
TBH, didnt expect to beat HKR away and lose yesterday, but that is our "joy" of supporting Wakefield Trinity and watching Rugby League.

| Think it is hard to see how good a coach is until he as had chance to rebuild a team .Mr Chester took over a good squad and we played the best rugby we have seen at Wakefield for a long time .The problems started when he had to rebuild the team he lost is way.W P as took over a much poorer squad do to players getting much older more injury prone or not good enough.W P as got them playing better ,but if a new coach came in and wanted new players can not see any coming in as a lot of the budget for next year as been spent by Mr Chester

Poaching probably has the best win ration of any coach over the past 20 years 4/6 is pretty good going and especially given that we'd won 4 from the previous 17.
I do think that we were a little over confident going into yesterdays game and didn't give Leigh enough respect.
It was their last SL game in front of their home fans and they were always going to be busting a gut to try and win and will have been targeting the fixture long before WP came in.
On the basis that we would most likely get an up and coming "young" coach, we should definitely stick with WP.
He's served a long apprenticeship as assistant at a number of clubs and he deserves a shot.

I'm a happy depressive - the glass is half empty but the bar is open.: |
|
| Maybe yesterday's second half will get WP to add more steel to his choices. He took over a poor side and immediately got them playing better rugby. It seems like he's said 'give it a go, don't just play safe' and it has worked well. Maybe he hasn't cracked the whip as much as needed as he has been successful with the changes he made so he has let things ride. Yesterday it was one of those second half surrenders that we haven't seen under him. Now he has the chance to explain / show the players that they can't get away with performing like this, CC may have let it roll over week on week but it can't be allowed to continue. A lot of maybes because I'm only a supporter, I'm not as fully informed about the club processes and individual players wishes like some on here claim to be.

| I hope I’m wrong in suspecting the wins we had were ‘new coach syndrome’
Didn’t CC win his first 6 in charge?
I firmly believe a good coach can employ the right style of play for his players BUT they have to have the quality to allow this to happen.
You get what you pay for and as the advert says ‘you do the maths’
