| If we sign Green and Tangata as seems to be assumed that improves us from England & Hirst last season. Its the returning players that will make the real difference - TJ, Bill T & Matty Ashurst was too great a miss for us on the left edge last year. Arona's injury really killed us coming on top of the rest, he was a huge miss and will be a most welcome return.

Very few signings so far but, the season hasn't quite finished yet and the club will release them as and when.
Yes, Hampshire has gone and we will miss his utility value but, young Walker looks to be a decent FB, maybe better in the position than Hampshire.
For us to push for a top 5 spot, we definitely need our best players to remain fit and with our player spend, this will always be the case.
We just dont have the spend to have too many quality players in the reserves and that isn't going to change.
Yes, we had a poor season but, could ANY side have achieved their objectives with such a decimated squad.
As for worrying about next season, as a Trinity fan, I'd be worried if I wasn't worried as I'd probably have stopped breathing.
Cheer up man, this time next year...……...

| I hate to say this but Castleford did quite well to cover their injuries.

Oh come on give your club a break. I don't like making excuses and I don't think that it was just injuries that did for us. However, I do believe we had this season's worst injury crisis and by some way. Twenty plus operations, 3 dream team players sidelined for 2/3 of a season, our talisman playing on one leg for half a season. It wasn't just the numbers it was the ferocity, longevity and timing, much worse than Cas.
That idiot Barry McDermott kept saying we have a small squad, we don't, but the injury combinations would have crucified any team.
You shouldn't need luck with our squad to avoid relegation, but you do need it to get top five and we got none.

Although Gale was out for the season and they did have plenty of injuries, they start with a slightly better squad, with a little more depth than we do and although this isn't a measuring contest, we seemed to suffer more players out and for longer and in key positions but, yes, Cas did pretty well considering their problems.

| Interesting point about Castleford, think there main difference is there coach is the best in S L. No sentiment with him when he thinks a player is past it he gets rid . Same when a player starts been injury a lot .Gale gone to Leeds, how many games as he played for Cas in the last two seasons. He also goes for quality replacement .and he knows the importance of having a quality 6 ,7,and 9.does not matter how good your out side backs are if your 6,7 and 9 are not abel to get the ball to them your going to struggle .and he always gets 13 fit players on the pitch

Well we got Hampshire from Leigh didn't we?

No I think we got him off the dole, I think Leigh had cancelled all contracts by then.
Not sure about the panic other than we have this one every year. Also worth noting that Tanganoa is technically a new signing who we got slightly earlier than expected, people have very short memories they really do. Tanganoa for me is one of the best NRL signings SL has made in years.

| Leeds made a move for Gale and waved pounds notes in front of Cas. Hardly "getting rid".
Slightly O/T but you could say Cas are still a selling club.

They didn't want to sell. They originally said no.
It was Gale who wanted to go when they made the offer.
Making money on a player who has hardly played for two years is good business to me. Doesn’t make you a selling club.

We'll see next season how good a deal Leeds have got BUT my point was more in response to the post saying Cas had "got rid".

If he's wrong it should be easy to counter his point. Poptart

| Was just pointing out the difference in attitude between the Cas coach and Wakey coach.

Yet if Chester signed the same players Powell has signed in the past few seasons, I am sure you would be still disappointed? Most of his signings are from lower quality SL teams of championship teams and generally are not viewed as great or even good player in some cases.
And I don`t think he has necessarily made the right call on some of his players contract renewals or new signings for that matter, the like of Joe Wardle, Jamie Ellis have been terrible calls and they happen with every team and coach, I actually think Chester has got it right a lot more than he has got it wrong.
The only other thing I can think of when it comes to attitude is talking about injuries, surely you cant be talking about that? Powell has brought it up in every sky interview he has done since mid season, whilst also moaning about the match officials on every chance he gets to.
I used to rate Powell as the best coach in the league but after the last few seasons, I am just not sure anymore.
