Exactly this. We are now merely Leeds 2nd vote. Absolutely shocking decision IMO

Rubbish, if anything this is as KK says us paying the ferryman, the RFL helped us out, we're backing them, I'm not saying it's right but that's how I see our position.

Yep. A ridiculous stance to take given our current state and proof we are in Hetheringtons pocket. We have to look after number one and that involves us lessing the chance of relegation whilst we try rebuild the club. Going down now would set this club back for a generation at least, we have to do everything possible to avoid it and if that involves voting in purely our own interests so be it.

| Quote: wrencat1873 "I think that you are doing the game a dis-service.
The game is struggling to grow and improve at the top but, there are more people involved in the game at grass roots level than there has ever been, especially in the South East (quite ironic, given the state of The Bronco's)
Also, the World Cup, although slightly contrived, is probably exceeding expectations.
To compare the RLWC with the round-ball version is totally unrealistic and it is only the hype of this event which stirs the public interest in one sided fixtures.
There are problems with the game and the need for perpetual quick fixes but, at the end of the day we are struggling at the top end, not with the game itself but, with lack of investment/ sponsorship and the people running the sport should shake their collective heads about the lack of decent sponsors for our major competitions.'"
If sky pulled the plug on Rugby League how many professional clubs would survive. I could probably count them on one finger.

For us, it's all about getting through next season and then hopefully building towards a move to Newmarket.
If we have to beg, steal or borrow from Leeds or whoever else then, so what ?
As long as we come through the other side and have a team to support in years to come, then it's worth the pain and the dent in our collective ego's.

Same could be said for most sports, football may survive professionally, but certainly not at the levels it's currently at.

If Sky pulled the plug, we would go back to where we were pre Super League as a semi pro sport with Wigan, Leeds, Saints, Warrington and Hull FC dominating the comp, so no change really.
Having said that ALL professional sports have become reliant on TV income, none more so than Football.

I agree but football would survive. Rugby League wouldn't as a professional game.

Yes RL depends on TV money, but soccer is so far in over its head, it's unbelievable.
If TV pulled out, the game is bankrupted immediately. This will never happen however.

Absolutely.
It doesn't do Wakefield any good opposing the RFL's plans.
Not only that, it's evident that Wakefield have struggled financially in the current SL model, so if the reduction in teams would generate more income then it's a no-brainer.
Saying they should oppose it becasue they might get relegated is pretty short-sighted

Same with every professional sport in the world.
RL makes money for Sky, Sky makes money for RL - you are correct, it's all but an unbreakable bond

If that is the case and we have agreed to toe the leeds/ rfl line then fair enough, the club should come out and say this.
Whereas what they actually said was we would go there with an open mind. So which is it?
