Yes,during that relegation battle he switched to another level as a player and leader of players.
His escape from the dead ball line a case in point.
Then the leadership this last year plus with Adam and Leon has put the gut into a different league in my opinion.
He stands shoulder to shoulder with this clubs greats.

The one poor season I’ve seen Demetriou have was 2005. After a dodgy start he was superb in 2004, I think he was troubled with back problems the following year, 2006 the whole team was appalling until the final six matches and from then on he has been a true leader and set a wonderful example as captain.

When would this guy who has served our club so well be due a testomonial?
Seems like from all these accolades he would be well supported, and in my opinion he deserves it.

10 years is the standard, this will be his seventh season with Trinity and with all the will in the world, I’m not sure the body will last another three seasons, especially in the forwards.

John wells has been granted a testimonial for his service in the game and he has only been at London 4/5 years. Pretty sure JD has been in the british game 10 years so could be something to petition for from the rugby league

He played his first game for Lancashire Lynx in late 1999. He then moved onto Rochdale, Widnes and finally Wakey in 2004. icon_wink.gif

He's been with us 7 years? Wow, that takes some doing in this generation. I remember the first game i watched him. He played fullback against Warrington when they opened the Helliwell Jones and to be fair, he looked an absolute mess. But once he was moved to centre, he did a cracking job and since going into the forwards has proved an asset.

I wouldn't say he is the most gifted, he isn't a Lyon, Gidley or Inglis, but he still has desire, hunger and commitment. Which is what make him stand out above others, and that is why he is our leader.

Hes like our own Ryan Giggs barring a bit of silverware and personality(Sorry Ryan you are many things but not a personality). Nothing would surprise me with Jason if he did manage another 3 years i would not be shocked.

Makes him a hard player to play against and a great player to play along side, Leader of men he certainly is, a valuable asset to our club.

What i like about JD is that he can have a quiet game but whenever his team needs a big drive/tackle or a boosting kick return from the in goal area to get back in the field he seems to come up with it.

JD has been our rock in recent years while other plyers jumped ship he stood tall with us, and i dont think there is a player who deserves some silverware more than jd, or a player it would mean more to than jd.

Quote: CATS FAN "He played his first game for Lancashire Lynx in late 1999. He then moved onto Rochdale, Widnes and finally Wakey in 2004.
We had him on trial at Mount Pleasant for three weeks in 1999 when he first arrived in England. He'd suffered a serious injury whilst playing for one of St.George's junior sides a few years previously, and had come over here to try and make a name for himself.
Sadly, he didn't impress coach David Ward during the training sessions he took part in and was sent on his way, ending up with the Lynx.
Nice one Wardy!

(in 1994, we also trialled a young Aussie named Andy Purcell who was, like JD, shunned by Wardy after a week or so. He returned Down Under, and ended up a regular with Cronulla Sharks in the NRL before a decent stint in Super League with Hull and Castleford. I'd say that Wardy would be kicking himself, but knowing him he'll still be adamant he did the right thing in both situations icon_rolleyes.gif )
