Wigan and Cas will compete for a top four place, it may be that Cas finish in top 4 at the expense of Wigan, why loan one of the most gifted players of his generation to a team you are likely to compete with. Rocky would have been brilliant for us and we would never be a problem for Wigan.'" Michael Carter tried his best to sign ryan wigan ultimately say where hes off.

| Wingers coming in and getting done on the outside has been symptomatic at Trinity for quite some time regardless of who plays there or who coaches the team. Clearly the better teams are able to suck the defensive line into the middle which creates the overlap leaving the isolated winger with a choice of leaving a gap on the inside or on the outside. They're screwed either way. As Avenger and others have said the damage was done before the ball got to the flanks.

Lynne had a decent game against Cas didn't he? Scored a try and stopped a certain one on opposite wing hold one up over the line?'"
I've not been to any of the friendlies but the reports coming back about Lynne seem positive. they all get a clean slate with me but he was one who needed big improvements this year.

Although he would be everyone's favourite scapegoat, he's been our most consistent player in the pre season games.
Trinity "fan's" always need a couple of players to blame when things go wrong and for whatever reason he, wrongly, is top of most peoples list.
With the squad that we have at the moment, it looks like he will be playing on the wing and may well be our top try scorer this season.
With no Washbrook in the squad, who will the fans blame if/when we lose

| I agree about Lyne. He has shown up well in the preseason.
I prefer him at wing as he really doesn't have the confidence to pass under pressure at centre.
He is a fast guy and a metre gainer on kick returns and a physically strong player.
He needs to practise the high ball based on previous outings but that isn't a big flaw particularly.

I'm not one for targeting players for grief, just think with Lynne he went backwards last year and if he doesn't pick up this year he won't reach his potential. We don't have space for passengers when every game is a struggle.
Could never understand the attitude towards Danny Washbrook, got my vote for player of the season last year.

| So you would leave Lynne out who was our best three quarter on Sunday?

I was saying that despite being our best player, people were still on his back, desperate for him to fail, which is just plain bizarre and as we appear to have more options at centre, he looks like having the left wing position for some time.
Atm he will be Smith's first pick in the backs and rightly so.
What I cant understand is that some "fans" want him to make mistakes, just so that they have an easy target.

| I'd like to see Walton given ago along side Johnstone. Walton is strong in defence and quite quick for a big lad.
1. BJB
2. Johnstone
3. Walton
4. Tupou / Gibson
5. Lyne
Although, as much as BJB wants the FB spot. I'm still undecided as to whether this is his ideal position.
For me, I feel safer when a high ball goes up & Jordan Tansey is there, but we shall see how he goes.

| I think the fact that Lyne has scored 2 tries is papering over the cracks. His general play is e. He scored a good individual effort against Featherstone and a walk in vs Cas. Looks no different to the Reece Lyne I saw last year. He is a lot slower than he used to be and he trundles about and seems to do everything very slowly with no aggression/physicality and tends to run lateral. If the last two friendlies are good/decent performances by his standards from people's comments on here then it goes to show how much we expect from a winger.

Have you actually been watching the pre season games ?
Either he's doing ok or being protected by his centre as we haven't conceded anything down his wing.
You say that he's doing stuff slowly but, he certainly found the line twice and the score at Cas was very well taken, with the "assist" landing on his boot laces.
I think that you may be one of the people who have him at the top of your "scapegoat" list ?

Actually yes. Please tell me what Lyne did well. Happy to hear.

Sorry dude but I picked passes that low off my laces in the U7s. Why is it that if anyone says anything negative about any player on here it makes them a 'scapegoat'. I'm not saying it's Lyne's fault for our loss, therefore not a scapegoat. Have a word fella.

Johnstone and BJB on the wing would be pretty mouthwatering, the problem is we don't have a centre capable of putting either of them away.
