Don't bite; as with a thousand other rumours from an unsubstantiated source it will more than likely result in a few knee jerk reactions and then nothing. This is nothing against you personally Dave but I really don't see why you'd post this, you can't prove it and its only going to cause you grief.

Jus to be clear, I have no idea whether what Dave has posted is true or not.

What I was aware of was some sort of contingency that was to bridge the gap between BV and the move to NM due to the well publicised delays new stadium was subject to. It involved a circa £1m face lift to improve facilities, certainly nothing as major as financing a new £5m stand.

Could Newmarket never happen ? quite possible because over the years the club and the council have managed to balls up many an opportunity.

Could we end up staying at Belle Vue ? Yes again highly likely if we don't focus 100% on Newmarket and get side tracked by other stupid ideas.

Could Belle Vue be upgraded ? Not a chance in Hell !!!. For a start the ground would have to be purchased and so would the Super Bowl. Once owners of both realise our interest just watch the price rise. So where will the money come from for that. Secondly even if the funds could be raised to buy both items, where do you get the money to redevelop?
You can't transfer 106 benefits to another site and even if you could, you can't give public funds to a private organisation.

So if you could find the money to buy Belle Vue and buy the Super Bowl and redevelop the ground, why bother ?
If you could get such funds just use it to bridge the shortfall at NM.

A redeveloped Belle Vue would still be a botch up in a land locked area in a crap part of the City.
NM is a 40 acre location purpose built facility in a superior location.

Those are questions I can't answer mate, and I don't disagree with you. Though after hearing positive things for a good twelve months, we had this bombshell dropped on us.

I don't recall the exact reasons, though they were explained to me... They were a bit complex hence I don't remember/understand some bits of it, so I don't want to get anything wrong, but I will gleen a bit more info if I can.

Hope you're wrong, and it doesn't quite square with TRB's guarded optimism, and guarded optimism isn't too far from realistic pessimism, which might spill out over a pint. And "it probably won't happen" can soon become "it's not going to happen".

IF there is something going on here, then neither we, the club or the council are aware of it!

We have just spent a great deal of time speaking to some of those involved and, whilst there is a funding gap (this is not news), the project remains on-going.

The developer is tied into a 106 agreement which he is bound to fulfil. The council have invested heavily in the scheme. The Stadium Trust are the beneficiaries of the development with WT the anchor tenants.

As far as we are all concerned, what Dave has posted is incorrect!

I hope you are correct, and I don't mean to undermine anyone else's knowledge on this. I'm definitely not saying I am corrct or will stand by my comments to the death, though I have good enough reason to believe this to be true....

I wasn't drunk at the time as I wasn't drinking (if you can believe that!) ....the reason I don't recall some aspects is because some things flew over my head, and I have slept several times since.

I apologise for making such a bold statement with such vague recollections of the events though, but I assure you I treated this with a high level of skepticism at the time. And I certainly wouldn't have said anything on here if I had any idea that it was just fabricated, cause it'd have only knocked my own credibility.

The poeple who ARE in the know on here suggest this is unture, which I am happy to accept, though in my mind I do expect something to be announced in the next couple of weeks
