Of course it can be done, but Fifita is an integral part of the team so can command that negotiation. For all that I would like Hampshire to have been retained, he's not at that level just yet, at least in the eyes of the people who are offering the contract. The club made an offer, gave a deadline, it wasn't accepted. End of story for me. As I said before. Ryan Hampshire will get another club easily so come next year he will be playing his game and can forget about perceived injustices here.
