Twitter is saying Tim Smith - 1 year deal.

Would not want Gareth CharnHock at our club we don't need some one upsetting the apple cart and you could bet that's what would happen.

MC apparently annoyed that some journalist has announced that Tim Smith as signed a one year deal before the official club announcement ? So why put riddles on Twitter giving clues that he has signed?

A 1 year deal seems strange unless Smith is wanting to return home after that

My worry is that it is a lack of belief by the club not in Smith but the team in general. I am sure someone will be able to post a list of the current squad and when their contract expires.

P & R leads to short term thinking when you're a vulnerable club. Still I think Smith is a special case. He signed a one year deal first time around.

I can assure you that this is a deal that has been worked hard for over a long period of time. Tim's wages - here before / at Salford / here now, the length of his deal with Salford and the benefits accrued by that deal have all had to be worked through.

Bearing in mind that Tim's sale to Salford paid the wages last year, and I doubt we have paid a transfer deal to get him back, it is quite a coup that we have managed to pull this off - and he is a massive asset to us, no doubt of that!

Well done to the club for getting us to this point, and it is great to have him secured for 2015. I do hope that we will be in a position to be able to discuss extending this deal before the next 12 months are up, but once again this will come down to how many people get behind the club and buy season tickets etc etc....

I'm ok with the 1 year deal. It's a sign of good financial management in my opinion.
Player recruitment and Tim Smith in particular is an emotive subject and can easily lead to giving contracts out that we either can't afford now or more likely can't guarentee we can afford in future.
It's better to see what the crowds are like and what ST sales are like before spending long term big.

I'm hearing Gaz Hock has signed for CAS on a one year deal. So that puts us out of the picture thank god!
