| I defended not letting Kear go before the license decision as it made sense not to rock the boat at that time, and from a PR perspective would've been suicide. Yes, people may point to the players he has had to work with this season and claim they are not a true reflection of his ability, but for me, we have to move on. Kear will always be remembered for saving our bacon, and the climax to that season, even this, optimises the man and his style of play. Backs to the wall. But if we are to move forward, and now is the time to do so, the end of this season should signal the end of John Kear as coach of Wakefield Trinity.
It's time to show our intent. We need to move on.

For Penrith to offer him their caretaker job he has demonstrated he is good enough. He still wants a job in the Super League and did apply for the Salford job. He is relatively young, and having played for the club, knows what we are about. To offer Kear another contract on the back of yesterdays news would for me show a lack of ambition. We need to move on, we need new ideas, for me, we need a Steve Georgallis, or someone versed in the modern game.

| Well he wants to stay now. rlhttps://www.sportinglife.com/rugbyleague/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME
My opinion is thanks for everything John but its time for a change. And take Broadbent & Sanctuary with you. Georgallis would be ideal, served a good apprenticeship, has been coaching first grade so is up to speed with modern coaching techniques in the best league in the world, is keen to come back to this country and has been at the club before. Put a young british assistant alongside him and get a top quality, proven rugby league conditoner to work with all age groups in the club.

| If we are going to replace Kear we should do it sooner rather than later, so the new coach can get the team HE wants for next season

Thats the name I was going to mention for the reason you've put. Apparently him and his players are pretty peeved he never even got a chance to apply for the vacant job at Penrith. Love to see him here, I would expect he would be in our price range.

| A possible problem with Georgalis, or a.n.other Aussie coach; they don't know the UK-based players. He may be able to uncover a couple of pearls from over there, but If we are looking to get a largely British squad who will do the recruitment?

You have to give him credit he certainly has a big set of balls.
He is starting to sound exactly like Noble when everyone knew it was time for him to go at Wigan. Using the media to try to manipulate his way back in.
Can't blame him really as I anticipate leaving Wakefield would mean the end of his top flight career.
In my opinion and what I hear from the players it would be near impossible for him to stay, but I guess with the pressure of the franchise decision now lifted opinions may change also.

| What ever is happening with Kear,it needs resolving urgently.
Personally, thanks for your efforts JK,but bye bye.
We need to start looking at recruitment for next season and beyond asap and this would be best done having resolved the head coach situation.

i think that this is key too. we're already way behind the others in terms of recruitment and will be picking over the slops before long. in depth knowledge of the british game is required, but somebody that could bring in three willie poching type imports would be welcome!

Which is where the british-based assistant will be so important.
