Kear is at fault here for picking a player who is clearly well off getting to match fitness. You wouldn't see any other coach in SL putting him straight into the 17. What sort f message does this send to the rest of the squad and those promising youngsters!

Hickey has alot of promise, and given time i'm sure he'll prove to be an astute signing, but Kear hasn't helped the guy. He should have had to work hard for a spot in the team

Many people use twitter (and facebook) in place of email and therefore send out 'personal' messages and thoughts to all and sundry, this is the cause of some of the problems.

The problem with fans following players on twitter or being 'friends' on facebook is that it requires some thought and self control things that are not always in abundance straight after a game. If the players are happy to be followed on twitter then they should be expecting to cop a bit of grief when things are going badly. On the other hand if supporters are given the players personal abuse then they should also expect to get a less than favourable response. Personally I'd ban them from using both but that's just me.

Absolutely - I think it should be encouraged, but there needs to be some rules applied - generally those involving common sense (appreciate that some players are not always too gifted in this department! )

In short I dont give a stuff what hickey does this week, he can be drinking every single day and night so long as on game days he performs, at present he isnt performing, so he will be rightly critisised.

Not at all - I've been very public about my distaste for this kind of thing; I think it shows the individuals and the organisations they represent in a very poor light. I've said that many times, so you know I don't condone it.

BUT

The genie is out of the bottle - everyone's Twattering and Poking each other all over the place, so if you choose to engage in that form of communication directly with a player, and throw some fairly personal insults at him to boot, it's a bit rich to play the wounded soldier if he responds in a similar fashion.

For mine, the club should have an official Twitter feed that is updated several times per day on player news, club info etc and the players and staff should stay well away; if they must insist on mass communication, make them a private message board or somesuch, so they can all tell each other when they've been to Nandos, or bought some new flip-flops.

Get real. You address your issues to your team mates and coaches; you let the club communicate properly with the fans.
