And yes ive seen both play'"
Of course they won't need to be played, they may get an odd sniff but it's all about stepping up to a full time environment.
The post was tongue in cheek.

I don’t think he does that. How anyone would think that baffles me.
I’m just happy to see us developing players on a regular basis, some won’t make it but at least there in the frame.

| Quote vastman="vastman"Stop being ridiculous, they are just moving up to the first team training squad like happens every year. This is what people moan never happens and when it does they still moan.
Do you seriously think either of these lads will play first team this season other than perhaps a CCup game early round from the bench. It would take a monumental injury crisis worse than 2019 for that.
We get it you’re an unhappy bunny but let’s not stray into fantasy.
Great work by the club, welcome on board lads, hope you do well. See,
Trust you to open thee mouth ill stand by whst i say there now first team players so if we do get issues like the last 2 years then who knows msybe they will and even against lower leagues i wouldnt say there ready ..yet...i wish them every luck.

No there not first team players, end of. You were just plain wrong. Ever thought other clubs might have been sniffing so we are safeguarding our investment.
These players will train and then at some point go out on loan.
Eseh if he develops as a rugby player may get a look in next season because he’s clearly very physically advanced for his year but only if he proves he can play.

Not 1st team players what like harry bowes wasnt......
And i would say pat donavon will be more ready than sam.ive seen both play numerous occaisions and feel pat is far better hence he played for england and may be wrong but belive he play reserve games at start of ladt season.that said sam with full time environment could become stronger and better.i feel there another prop in the academy who is better than sam but im not the coaches

Seem to remember Lee Crooks doing ok at the age of 17 and what about James Graham he'll of been about 17-18 yr old, drip feeding into games every now and again speeds up maturity you wouldn't want to break them but 20 mins at the right time is what's needed

Wouldn't deny that but wouldn’t want to put that level of expectation on them. Nearer to home I remember Feather and Mason breaking through as props very young. Do think that’s a lot rarer these days though.
Working out who’s going to make it at 17 to 19 age especially in the forwards is really hard to do, so many factors. I don’t envy the coaching staff that one but I’m really delighted to see we are pushing it.
All the same I doubt the club has any serious plans to use them this season. Aydin is next in line for the pack and he will do well to get a game, hopefully for his sake and ours).

One, Bowes played twice at the end of a dead rubber season, are you seriously suggesting in a real season he’d have played? I seriously doubt that. We were lucky in a way last year to be able to test a few players we normally wouldn’t be able to and you know what, they did ok.
Two, do you not think there is a big difference between a hooker and the rest of the forward line? It’s common for a no9 to breakthrough young it’s far less common for a forward and I think the reasons are pretty obvious.
Do you think he will play this year? Only unless one Wood is injured and Crowther can’t cover. It’s possible but not what will be planned for.
Let's be sensible in this debate. Windrow, Bowes, Eser and O’Donovan are first-year rookies who are being given the chance to train and develop with the first team. Above them are Aydin, Croft, Bailey, Walker and Ollie who are fundamentally the team's reserve players. They are all at varied states of readiness but it’s these youngsters who would be expected to fill the breach in a crisis. Five decent players there, not bad for an emergency. We should be delighted we are in this position.
TBF on you it's not impossible for those players to have to play but it would take a Munich disaster or a Fergy type team punishment the rather fortunately unearthed an entire England team. Both are unlikely though the latter would be great, the former, well no team has the resources to deal with that.
None of the above has anything to do with our search for an experienced prop, that’s a completely different issue, hence KK was joking.

| Wigan seem to have a batch of very young aggressive Forwards ie Smithies, Partington ..... who are 19/20. If you’re ready you’re ready regardless of age. Listening to a Sean Long interview on rugby AM he said they have the same youth coaches at Wigan as when he first came through and they literally have them running through brick walls for the club

I think we are heading that way but it takes time.
I remember Applegarth as a player, he was a mediocre talent but his enthusiasm and effort were exceptional. He's the perfect youth Coach IMHO. His attitude is spot one in that he will instil a work ethic and he understands failure and that it can be overcome, he understands all players develop differently. Far too many youths coaches concentrate on the obvious talent at that ages group but that is often deceiving, you need a Coach who can spot ticker as well as quality or qualities yet to be developed and I think he does.
Lets put it this way, in the last six years we've not had too many failures and even those have gone on to do ok elsewhere, we have also had a few success stories sowe must be doing something right.
