Sorry glass half empty on this latest council grand announcement. We need to see the finalised fine detail before declaring it as great news. I know we have good people working hard to secure the best they can for the club but too many unanswered questions at this stage for me.

The silence from Belle Vue is deafening, no response from any official source, Club or Trust. This is a pre-emptive strike by Box and the council publicity machine to put pressure on MC to accept whats on offer. I'll wait until I here from the Club before I celebrate .

Quote: Mick Amos 9 WTW "Wasn't aimed at you personally Bren. You're a good, positive fan. I've seen a few fans dissilusioned with the news through previous frustrations. Which is understandable with the heartache and lies we've endured. I agree with those whose conned us. (This not at you either Bren) For the avoidance of doubt my initial post wasn't against previous owners, it was firmly at YCP, people within the council and new trust... They know who they are...'"

Do you keep a list?! icon_confused.gif And I'm not always - last Sunday being the most recent example.

For the avoidance of doubt - I think that, much like Brexit, this is a crap deal - but it was probably the only deal on the table, so MC and the Trust have voted for it, probably out of pragmatism.

I'm deeply disappointed that what was originally promised, and mandated by the SoS, will never be delivered; I'm also furious that several parties will make massive amounts of money out of that failure, and that those monied individuals have joined forces to rob the people of Wakefield of a genuine community facility whilst further enriching themselves; but I guess that's how society works - those with throw scraps to those without, and those without are expected to be happy and grateful for the magnanimity.

Did the council not block the development by Yorkcourt despite the legal advice. This is a brave move for any council with the country in the mess it is.

John Minards has made a statement, basically thanking the council whilst acknowledging it's early days with more work going on regarding the redevelopment.

MC was still talking about the developer stumping up during the interview he gave on 'by the balls'.

I don't really understand the negativeness about the statement.

Clearly it doesn't answer everything, but it doesn't put us in a worse position and it's a step forward, even if we don't know when the next step would be.
Considering how much non movement or even backwards movement there as been, I'm reasonably up beat about it.

The way I look at it. Although YC have got away with what they were supposed to do, and Manni seems to have made a lot of money out of a serious error of judgement (schoolboy level), the objective is to get a better ground for Wakefield Trinity. I'm all for the community stadium and would get involved to make that happen, but my (our) main objective is for Trinity. If that is at Belle Vue then so be it. Its not a terrible move. I quite like the idea of keeping some history.
The requirements are though to have a SL approved a stadium that will generate more income and that is what we should be focused on.

Well I don't know about anyone else but I'm confused by the whole affair.
We have the press release saying WMDC are loaning the club the money and the chairman saying it will be good to have the ground back in the ownership of the club, but then another poster saying the trust will own the ground with the club paying rent!
Worse than that, as someone else has pointed out the silence from the club is deafening and weren't we only supposed to believe an official club statement regarding the ground? Is it happening at all?

Totally agree with this, however I think it's more about saving face for the Council. These people can't be trusted (Council and York Court), we know which team the Council are on after they sided with the developer at the latest planning permission hearing. The statements come way too early, it's still only in principle at this stage with so many unanswered questions. I'll believe it when the club make their own statement

Council leader Box says it's a Conservative govt in power and it should be cancelled. But adds that if it can't be stopped the council will try to get the best deal possible for Wakefield

Newmarket land values will have increased. Will Mr Box try to get the best possible deal for money towards a community stadium, from Yorkcourt.

its alright looking at loaning cash to buy our dilapidated ground back and 'looking at addressing' parking but what about the redevelopment?? Again, no mention of this in the latest 'good news' article...we need more than a bit of parking and a lick of paint Denise eusa_liar.gif

How the heck does she have the bare faced cheek to to state that the council have been working hard on this for 12 years.
