In my opinion, Mellars has played quite well since he got his chance and has had a bit of a run.
He played in the away game at Saints when we had lots of players missing and really stood up and had his best game in a Trin shirt. Since then he has had a bit of a run in the team and has actually played fairly well.
The problem with Mellars is that lots of people formed opinions on him last season when we certainly didn't see the best of him for whatever reason, combined with the rumours about the salary he is on and have decided that he is not worth it.
If people put aside those preconceptions and viewed him as he is playing now, I think he would be a lot better received.

Annakin is not the same as last year, he may be in the way he plays but he has really knuckled down in pre-season and from the start of the season and is taking the chance he has been given well. There are well documented examples of where that was not the case in the past.

Kyle Wood managed to convince me last weekend that the step up to SL Halfback may well be beyond him, but he is still a reasonably good interchange hooker, although having seen how Maskill played last Saturday he will need to up his game to keep him out long term.

Danny Washbrook has been a little guilty this season of trying too hard to fulfill a role that is not really what he does best. I think when Kirmo was missing Washbrook tried hard to be that running 2nd row that we were missing and that detracted from his natural game. You can't say that a player who made nearly 1000 tackles in SL last season is a poor player, just he is not doing what he's good at.


These are all just my opinions and may differ from other people's and I won't try and shove them down your throat like some other posters do, just thought I'd bring up some points for discussion.

Annakin and Mariano are 2 good examples to use here

Chris Annakin (2012): not applying himself in training and finds himself out on loan in Workington. I'm sure he stood at Derwent Park, in front of a few hundred fans on a cold Thursday night and thought how the hell did I get here.

Result, he comes back, changes his attitude and trains like he should have right from the beggining and finds himself playing Super League on a regular basis.

Frankie Mariano, a player with all the physical attributes you'd want in a second rower, someone who really ought to be ripping it up and banging on the door of the England dressing room. Instead he'll be turning out in the Championship at Batley, I like Mount Pleasant by the way but it aint the DW, KC or the Gilbert Brutus!

Now if Frankie has it within him he'll be honest with himself about why he's there and admit that consistantly offering less than 100% effort has lead him to a crossroads in his Rugby League career.
It remains to be seen whether he's got the mental attributes to match his physical ones enabling him to follow Chris Annakins example.

At that time we needed a change I agree. Glover been awesome for us I am not twisting it around and saying its his fault I know you want me to but I am not. Hope Frankie comes back better and stronger, I am fine with that its just the fact he should be playing now Mellers doesnt deserve a place, Sykes should be dropped but isn't I question the fairness. Just prayer to god Agar knows what hes doing.

All these corners MAriano must be cutting in training must be shocking why don't we fine him then if hes so naughty in class, why doesnt Mr Agar bring back the cane. Its a Rugby club for christ sake not a boarding school. People are making him out to be like Homer Simpson too funny

I would add to that by saying as a manager (in any job) you have a responsibility to the people who work for you.
Sometimes that means giving them the hard facts about their career and their work ethic.
Letting someone go, who is not performing is sometimes the best thing for that person, especially if they are really not capable of doing what you want them to do.
Frankie may find with another coach with another style that he will flurish and become a better player. he may also find that he realises the opposite of what Clan was saying - that actually, Featherstone is his level and he isn't cut out for Super League. He'll be a lot happy with his life when he does find his place.

Is Mellors playing, I reckon his first choice will be Kirmond, Ali and Anakin?

Although Im no fan of Agar if a player is not doing it and cutting corners then why should he pick him.Agar said of Amor he was cutting corners and he didnt get in the side and obviously Amor has taken that on board and come back into the side.It dont matter who the coach is he will get my vote every time if a player is not giving it his all or being a bad boy if he is left out of the side.Some players will knuckel down and do whats asked others will just sulk as per what happened under JK with Brough and Scully.Brough accepted it and got on with it Scully sulked and finished his SL playing days.Its a measure of a man of how he deals with things when its not going his way 2 choices get stuck in and deal with it or go with the flow and sink..I hope Frankie gets stuck in and deals with it and if he does all well and good.

Question to The Clan do you actually attend training and academy games on a regular basis .if so, all well and good .but if not where does your actual info come from
