You can apply to spen 400,000 if you want and Elston has already confirmed this is something we would do.

| I can fully understand players looking elsewhere due to the uncertainty regarding next season. They have to secure their future before other clubs fill their playing rostas. What I still cannot understand is why when we had an Academy Grand Final winning side we have not given more of those players an opportunity in the first team in order to dangle the carrot and get them to commit their future to us. If for example Josh Griffin has signed for Crusaders for next year and did play as bad as people are saying in recent away games ( I think he has had some very good games early on btw) why have we not played the very impressive Walshaw more. Now we have the situation where he is being touted around other clubs and we are in danger of losing him. I note Greg Eden had a good game for Cas v Wigan , he was one of our Academy players. As part of TRY Squadbuilder I find the lack of first team chances for the Academy players very frustrating. If for example Hickey has played less than 30 minutes first team rugby in 3 games why not play someone from the Academy for 2 of those games and let Hickey get upto speed in the Academy. Very baffling.
I really hope we can hang onto our talented young lads. Would also hope Annekin would get more of a chance when fit.

| As your listing players who WILL be with the club if they dont get a SL License I thought that I would just mention that every player mentioned has signed a SL contract, and all will be void if wakefield go down meaning potentially every player has the option to leave or get out of their contract.
I know that Widnes are awaiting the decision so that they can take at least 2 players who are under contract

By all accounts the contracts signed by Moore, Wildie, Mariano and Higgins are valid for both divisions.

Yes but that doesn't mean they won't leave, just that we can get a fee for them.

Your spot on and I would not be happy at all with them leaving but a fee would at least soften the blow. Also we don't have to sell them if we don't want to.

| True. Doubt anyone would want Higgins or Moore at this point anyway, they didn't up to us signing them. Matty will only be 21 next year and is a local lad. With time being on his side he may well stay put short term. Mariano is a different kettle of fish though. He'll be 25 early next season and needs to be playing superleague rugby to achieve his ambitions. I can see him wanting to move on if the chance is there, which it will be.

You are right about Higgins and Moore no other Super League teams wanted them and although I think Higgins has done well and Moore has shown potential I don't think either of them have done enough to get a contract from a Super League team yet.
Wildie is in a similar situation and I actually think that for his long term prospects he may be better dropping down and having a season in the championship and play week in week out rather than play a handful of Super League games. Danny Brough did a similar thing a couple of times in fact and it has done him no harm.

your info is completely wrong they are on SL contracts and once the announcement is made and if Wakey lose out Widnes will be in for at least 2 of those
