Although we may not end up being the last sporting club to find ourselves in this position, and remembering all this hoohah last time we found ourselves on the sticky end of HMRC and we're still here, it does look a pretty poor way to run a SL club/business and being as unbiased as I can be, I can see more reasons to having a progresive NL1 club with little evidence of financial incompitence, in SL than us.
It is pretty embarassing!

People are quick to jump down the throat of any Wakey fan who brings bad news like this on the forum, but there is something to be said for it being out in the open. Even if it is only a rumour, it seems to be going round in strength - the version I was given, coming from officials amongst the two clubs playing last night, were clearly circulating around others within the game. I pondered the worth of posting over it, knowing the reaction it might get and the difficultly of holding a reasoned discussion over it. As it was, being busy took that out of my hands. Now the following paragraph may be largely my speculation, on a topic I'd ideally never have to discuss concerning the club I've supported all my life, but if doing so on something that is clearly out in the open leads to people hearing different sides of the story and perhaps even getting nearer the truth, I personally would rather be able to discuss it.

For what it is worth, administration was mentioned. If so, it doesn't have to be all a bad thing for the club; these things have been done in the past with sports teams and businesses alike to allow a takeover on more advantageous terms. Unhappy creditors yes, but not what I'm on here to consider. The issue of course would be the RFL allowing such a move, although precedent of a kind has been set.

administration would be a good thing imho for the future of wakefield rl, it would allow a clean start and a new b.o.d to get the club on a sound footing, the downside would of course mean no franchise next time but who`s to say thats not already the case.

has a fan of lufc i thought it was the end of the football world when this samething happend but after a few years down the club has fought back and is now in good shape something i would never have said 5 years ago, what the fans did was stick together and enjoy the new challenge the same has cas did in their 2 relegated years and has a fan they were good years.

has the above post says administration will have positves.

We owe the tax man, I'm not aware of any other creditors.

As I have said earlier we have money coming in that will more than pay the tax man but unfortunately not until after the the High Court hearing. We worked out a payment plan last time and I see no reason why we should not again.

Administration is not an option to me. We will immediately lose our SL status and if that happens there will be no chance of a return and I guess then there will be no chance of new investors.

Its going to be a difficult few weeks but whilst I'm not the most optimistic of people I think we will come through this. With the prospect of a new ground it will be easier to "sell" the Club to new investors because Ted certainly wants out and to become just a fan like us on here.

Keep the faith but remember that the longest journey has to start with a small step.

Administration wouldn't be the cure-all that it was for Leeds United, as they can play their way back up. We can't. We would be dependent on a committee to allow us back in, which would never happen, because we won't be the only club with a shiny new ground.

The problem with things said by people outside of the club is that speculation of possibilities soon become confirmation of likelihoods, and I prefer Sandal Cat's version, and I think he would be more likely to know.

I think there nay be too many financial problems already which means we wont get a franchise so on this basis if we do go into administrtion it may not be the worse thing in the world however at the moment i don't want it to happen.

It sounds to me like you are trying to make yourself feel better, and I don't blame you. I would be the same. But if you guys go into administration you can kiss good bye to super league. If you do go down I can't see any of the championship clubs putting in a better application next tme round. You just have to stick by your club. I am a Cas fan, I know all about it.

If we do go down then i can only see Tolouse providing anysort of opposistion for us coming back up in 2015 providing we get the stadium.

expecting to be ridiculed from you and you have made me feel more humble, when we relegated you I was caught between relief and ecstasy, I doubt our club could survive a drop down the way fans are dropping off

as much as I would like to blame the BOD for being incompetent, the fans for being so fickle, I truly blame the RFL applying pressure at a time when even the ardent fan is finding it a struggle to the money to come and watch

I have been saying exactly the same for some time mate, we are in the biggest reccession in living memory for some adults and the RFL are pressurising clubs to build new stadiums. Thats right - NEW STADIUMS!! Its not like its a small thing they are asking us to do. The building industry is on its harris. They could cause clubs to fold with such demands. Its a bloody joke, and so are the RFL.
The other thing is, how can they say one club will come up and one will go down BEFORE they have evaluated the applications. What if all the clubs in SL are better than the championship ones, do they still send a club down because they said thats what they were going to do. It wouldn't stand up in court, but of course the clubs have been stopped from taking it to court by the RFL.
Franchising does make the sport stronger if it gets rid of relegation, but it hasn't. Its just every three years now, and the RFL get to choose who to send down, and make ludicrous demands of clubs. The Aussies just add to the league, whats wrong with that?
